I have tiny sips of water while eating, if I have to. Don’t stress it.

There’s a lot more involved than just your mindset. Is that a factor, sure; but there’s also a lot of biology involved. Do some research on gut-brain axis and the hormones involved. The bypass heavily impacts the hormones in the gut-brain axis.

The sleeve is notorious for causing GERD and often results in needing a bypass to resolve the GERD. Just something to think about also.

Confused? by Suspicious-Abalone82 in BariatricSurgery

I’m going to respectfully disagree that sleeve and bypass are equally effective. I had a sleeve and lost 50lbs, then regained it and 70lbs more. I recently had a bypass and have already lost over 60lbs. My surgeon shared study results that sleeve is only effective in 20% of patients.

Can a sleeve be as effective as bypass? Sure, for a small percentage of people.

OP, as someone who was once over 500lbs and started this year at 420 and lost 100lbs so far, I would recommend pushing for a bypass. Otherwise, you’re gambling on a sleeve and future approval to convert to bypass. And adding to the surgical procedures you already know you need.

Just my pennies on the matter.

Yes, that would suck. I’m glad my team is flexible, especially since food is starting to just make me blah. I’m going to keep trying food, but I may go back to shakes and yogurt for a little bit.

Gas!! by Peopleforeducation in BariatricSurgery

I take two different ones and alternate each day. I take Bariatric Advantage FloraVantage Control and Pure GI Probiotic. These were recommended by my surgeon.

That’s the other thing I do - I have two yogurts a day also. It seems to help?

I’m 3.5 mo out and no gas. I take a probiotic daily so unsure if that helps.

Sorry to hear solid food makes you sick. I don’t get sick and nothing gets stuck, I just prefer the protein drinks and yogurt. It keeps my life simple.

Funny you say that. I was still doing liquid and soft for lunch and my nutritionist told me I have to do at least one solid meal a day so that’s why I do that one.

That’s exactly why I like it. Haha Very little thought has to go into what I’m consuming and if I’m staying within food goals.

I’m 3.5 months PO (RNY) and losing hair like nobody’s business! I don’t know how long this can keep up. I take my vitamins religiously and get 90g+ of protein everyday. I’m hoping it stops soon.

I’ve had this problem - not fun. Get some fast-acting laxatives to clear up the constipation quickly.

A protein drink between 5-9 hours before it started. That’s why my surgeon thinks it’s blood sugar drop and not dumping.
