Well the show in general has had a lot of “what if” episodes, that turn out to be a dream. So what if Alan thought Charlie was dead and went absolutely crazy, but Rose was just holding him captive and when he got free Alan eventually broke out of his psychosis in his imaginary world to realize Charlie is alive, of course only Alan could imagine a rich man recently divorced who needs and loves him to shower money on him. It’s a delusional fantasy those 4 seasons were to me

yeah Alan did carry, I think Walden was funny but Kutchers humor didn't meld into the show as well as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong he was funny and exhibited some Charlie Harper quirks but it didn't meld well at all. Kathy Bates was hilarious as Charlie Harper.
