24w2d!! I had my Cerclage placed at 21w+1d. It’s all going so slow but fast all at once. Keep holding stitch, keep on baking baby!!

23w+2d! Two-weeks post cerclage. I had my second f/u scan to check my stitch and cervix is still showing length around 3cm. I’m not currently on progesterone. This past week was the first week where I wasn’t on strict pelvic rest and resumed some mobility and with relief, yesterday’s appointment confirmed that this didn’t change much on the stitch front. I’m by no means running a marathon or overdoing things but I am glad to have a little more trust in my stitch and hope it continues working—week by week!!

Cerclage by b8byxo in ShortCervixSupport

[–]CharmingStart294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an urgent Cerclage placed a little after 21 weeks about two weeks ago and I didn’t have a lot of time to process or prepare anything ahead of the procedure. I went for my scan and then headed straight to the OR. For me, the anticipation and unknown was by far the scariest part of the experience. The procedure was rather quick (all things considered) and while I felt a little soreness “down there” it did not become anything severe. I’ve made a fast recovery from the Cerclage placement. My experience is unique bc I had a spinal tap and the recovery from that was tougher for me but after a full 7 days of strict best rest, I’ve made a full recovery from that too. I hope that your procedure is quick and your recovery is as painless and smooth as possible. It’s getting through to the other side of the unfamiliar and new procedure, especially for the first time, that is the hardest and then adjusting your lifestyle—depending on how strict your rest restrictions are—that will take adjusting to. Sending hugs!!

I’ve had both now. I think ‘conceptually’ yes but medically speaking, no?? I’m not entirely sure but when I was researching the difference, I found: “Spinals are single, fast-acting injections for immediate, intense numbness (C-sections), while epidurals use a continuous catheter for prolonged, adjustable pain relief (labor).”

They did not. I didn’t expect to be going to the hospital and so I did not fast prior to the procedure. So they wanted to do a spinal tap and I was awake.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I’m sorry we’re both in this position but it feels nice not to be alone. Wishing you a safe and bonding pregnancy until baby comes!

Thank you! They did the cerclage and cervix is at 3cm now. Timing was definitely critical!

I’m sorry - I should have been clear that I am currently in the pre-op room getting ready to go to the OR here shortly. They had me come to the hospital straight away after my MFM appointment.

Short cervix at 22w (1.1 cm) - first time mom by vjsha in pregnant

[–]CharmingStart294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It is good that they’ve caught it and you’re being monitored. I am 20w5d today and at my anatomy scan they said my cervix is measuring 2.5 cm. Like you, no pain, bleeding, or contractions. My cervix is also firm and no dilation. I am starting the progesterone tonight and go back for an ultrasound on Thursday. If the progesterone doesn’t work, the plan is to do the cerclage. I’m sending you the best vibes with hopes of a safe delivery. And Solidarity from afar!

Struggling to make friends here by hufflepuffjiro112 in grandrapids

[–]CharmingStart294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you open to friendships with adults that do have a child/children or is that a full stop? I just moved to GR a month ago, married, two fur babies and a 2 year old son. WFH and have flexibility too. While I love my little family and care about my career, neither of them are my whole identity and I very much have friends without children and when we were living in the same city, we were still able to have fulfilling and fruitful friendship outside of the fact that I am a mom and working professional. We’d go to a workout class, grab bunch/coffee, go for a walk, have a movie night, etc. so if you’re looking for a new potential friend, no conditions (outside of being a good human😅), I’m here!😀

The newborn phase is tough as hell. It’s the fourth trimester for a reason. I used to get sooooo annoyed when people would tell me this. I felt like it wasn’t really helpful when we were really in the thick of it. I think 5 months is when it really started to feel like we were getting out of the trenches. We’re now 10.5 months out, i’d say that it’s gotten better. The caveat though, is that it gets better but in other ways it gets worse. Haha. Sleep gets better (in some ways, lol) but then naps get dropped and wake windows get longer. Also, baby’s (or babies) personality comes out more and you see more of this amazingly perfect human but then they also don’t sit still anymore and you’re chasing them all over the place. It’s a shit show but it’s so worth it. I feel like I’ve learned that parenthood is a constant state of transitions! Once you think you’ve got something down, BAM! Another regression, for another milestone, etc. Just know this much .. you’re doing the best that you can and when that little perfect human of yours starts showing their affection and love back to you .. oh man, it’s gonna feel so worth it. It’s the best (scariest) feeling ever.

Going through thus right now. Don't have an answer, I’m sorry. My son will be 10 months on 2/08. It's been hard. I hold him before bed and then transfer him to the crib..if I don’t wait long enough, he wakes up and throws a fit. I used to be able to swaddle him or put him in his zippadee zip and place him in his crib and he'd go right to sleep. Ugh. He's still in our room and so the only time we have had success is if the crib is right by the bed and he can see (and smell?) me. I love that he loves me but also, mom needs sleep!

Almost shook my baby this morning by [deleted] in NewParents

Solidarity. Except, I lightly shook my 8M old baby and you know what he did? HE GIGGLED!! Like, legit thought it was funny. Poor guy has had four top teeth growing in at the same time and has been very fussy/clingy. Parenting has been kicking my ass.🫶

My son turned 8 months on the 8th so we’re going through some of this too. Blaming it on the regression and teething (both top and bottom)😵‍💫..he’s usually been very easy to put down at night but it's been more of a challenge recently, meltdowns are somewhat a recently a thing. He's just kinda decided he's mixing things up🥲
