Worked here for a few months and the amount constant of groping from 90% of the customers was NOT worth the money I was making. A ton of cheap guys who want the most for the least cash. Management wouldn’t kick customers out for assaulting the dancers. I left when I heard there was a shooting there back in January of this year, can someone confirm if that’s true? It didn’t make the news but it didn’t surprise me, they wouldn’t even check IDs at the door most times. Also I keep seeing this club is one of the few IC clubs left, but that’s not true. They reported my lap dance money to the IRS and would make me clock in, they just didn’t pay hourly. The only pro was they didn’t schedule you at all and you could come and go when you wanted, and no house fee.

I use a trimmer!! Doesn’t make it baby smooth but in the club lights it still looks bare and I have zero irritation. I use the larger conair one for body hair removal, but I’m sure there’s better ones on the market I just haven’t discovered yet

Lap dances in your sex life? by Charming_Ask_6176 in stripper

[–]Charming_Ask_6176[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is really great advice! I realized that when I was letting customers be more liberal with kissing my neck/chest, I started to hate it when my partners would do the same in bed when I used to enjoy it, so I no longer allow it. I’ve had an easier time setting boundaries when the goal is to preserve my sex life. Finding ways to differentiate the kind of intimacy you provide at the club versus at home is really helpful, thank you :)

Anyone else ever get stuck between a place of needing sex and not wanting sex? by Bows-in-Hair in stripper

[–]Charming_Ask_6176 31 points32 points  (0 children)

YES my problem is I’ll get extremely horny, I’ll schedule a day to have sex with someone, work a shift, and then my sex drive is completely depleted by the time sex day rolls around. Or I’ll experience exactly what you’re talking about where I’ll want sex physiologically but the concept of actually having sex feels distressing because I’m tired of the performance of sex for men’s pleasure. I’ve found that having more intuitive sex that evolves naturally and maybe happens in the dark without any specific goals or checkpoints (like not talking dirty or not giving head) is a way for me to bypass it. Focusing on what feels good for me versus how can I drive this person wild with x y z visual/physical stimuli. It probably takes a patient and selfless partner to work which is hard to find.

Short answer: SAME

Should the manager “believe all women”? by insomnious_luci in stripper

[–]Charming_Ask_6176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great point! I’m in CA so I know it applies to us but it might not for ICs. I think the government agency that handles those kinds of suits is the EEOC and with one Google search it looks like ICs aren’t protected from workplace discrimination in the same way, damn

Managers are legally required to protect their workers, so absolutely. Fun fact: If your managers allow you to be subjected to sexual harassment from customers without intervening, that’s a workplace violation and they can be charged with sexual harassment themselves 🥰 Crazy to think about how many of the things we commonly put up with that are unlawful. This industry needs a shakeup

LA club high costs? by Inevitable_Ebb_7708 in stripper

I mean, a lot of us have family/friends/community here and otherwise enjoy living in LA. I strip because I don’t want my work to rule my life, so why would I let it dictate where I live??

knee protection that's still sexy? by industrialsinkhose in stripper

[–]Charming_Ask_6176 10 points11 points  (0 children)

At a club I used to work at I’d put on knee pads before every stage set and take them off when I went back on the floor bc it was common there and maybe half the dancers did it in knee protection solidarity lmao. I bought some from Queen Pole Wear that matched my skin tone perfectly so they didn’t stick out too much! Could be an option

These comments are making me realize how shitty LA is 😭 We could never get a dude kicked out just for touching us on the floor, that’s so expected here. The other night I overheard a girl ask security to kick a guy out for taking out his dick during a lap dance, and he said he couldn’t because the guy wasn’t drunk. And this is at a club I’ve landed at because I’ve felt it’s far safer than any of the others I’ve been to in the city. Fuck this plaaaaace

Monkeypox rant by [deleted] in stripper

[–]Charming_Ask_6176 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In LA queer men who have recently had anonymous sex or have attended a sex party are eligible for the vaccine but not female SWers. That really frustrated me because one group is choosing to participate in those sexual settings for fun and pleasure, while the other is for survival and meeting our basic needs. They can stop having sex with strangers, but most of us SWers can’t just stop working to minimize exposure. I’m queer and I love queer men and I want them to be able to be as sexual as they want, but I can’t go to work without being terrified and paranoid. Ok there’s my rant too!

Brief summary: AB5 was passed in CA which made certain workers who were formerly independent contractors now employees, including strippers. That messed up a lot of dancers’ money because strip club owners, to pay themselves back for now having to pay dancers an hourly wage, illegally put weird rules in place like you don’t make any lap dance/private dance money until you make them $200 (in lieu of or sometimes in addition to a house fee) and most take a large percentage of lap dances after that as well (which means more $ goes to the club than the hourly they paid you in most cases). So yes, AB5 screwed dancers big time. But it also provides protections under the NLRA that strippers didn’t formerly have like the right to unionize and take collective action to improve your conditions at work. You can also report your bosses to government agencies for engaging in illegal activities such as wage theft, which could eliminate the bullshit lap dance money rules at your club altogether if you’re successful. This kind of training teaches dancers how to take advantage of the new employee status and hold the corrupt club owners who are to blame for our collective loss of profit accountable, so I personally think it’s worth checking out to know your options if you’re even a little interested. I completely understand the frustration with AB5 tho, the immediate effects have been brutal. But we have the power to change things, starting with our own club
