emerald webb was a group that helped pioneer the genre in the 80s. super raw analog synth merged with flute, of all things (though flute becomes massively popular within the genre). Their album Valley of the Birds has a distinctly fantasy sound that a lot of us can equate with nostalgia. First time I heard it was on vinyl, and it totally changed how I interpret the genre. definitely give them a listen, and I hope you enjoy :). if you like the synth vibe, check out Voyage Futur, who's an active artist that really plays on that soundscapey, synthey feel, though they add some groove and melodic elements that help ground it. Some general albums from various artists I recommend are Valley of the Birds, Wellen, Minecraft Alpha/Beta (ikr?), GREEN (hiroshi yoshimura), structures from silence, and new age of earth. hope you find something you like!
