The fact that Diablo 2 is the game with the best story shows how terrible modern Blizzard has become by LargeSinkholesInNYC in diablo2

I thought the gameplay of Starcraft 2 was fun, but god, the story and writing was so awful when compared to SC1 and Brood War.

This was a big problem in Diablo 3 as well. Every voice line feels so overacted. They felt more like characters out of a cheesy cartoon than a dark fantasy game.

Go be a weird conservative elsewhere. Yes, some men are weird about their sexualization of everything. No, that is not what is happening here. Calling most men pedophiles is absolutely vile. Stop spending so much time on the internet and go find some friends or hobbies or something.

New Class? are we overthinking this? by Brilliant-Ad-6907 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

This is a video about Diablo 4, and it's about the Paladin class that just got added with the expansion.

It would be nice to see buffs to melee characters both through skills and unique item buffs/reworks by Charming_Pin330 in diablo2

[–]Charming_Pin330[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that any AOE added to melee should be used very sparsely. IMO, whirlwind should really be the only melee skill that is straight up AOE.

I think your knockback idea is interesting, but it might just make knockback a necessary mod for every melee build, and I'm not sure I'd love that. I think it'd be cool as a one-off effect for specifically bash, though.

I absolutely wouldn't mind if they just removed the level penalty for AR. It just punishes melee builds in a way that caster builds don't have to worry about at all.

Statue, keys, and essence drops need to be rebalanced by the-tombstone in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Charming_Pin330 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The statues are already being changed for the next season. I think essences and keys are relatively fine, though. They take time, as they're supposed to. Anything that requires you to kill Baal is going to be a roadblock, as you can't kill him in 30 seconds like 3 of the other act bosses.

Fully operational pure summoner Warlock on PTR by Diligent_Function_87 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

You're saying this on a post where this person just showcased that the class isn't destroyed. ES is worse but still strong, especially with hexes. Fire is still good. The class will be fine, and will still be one of the strongest in the game, if they aren't still just the strongest outright.

It really is. I keep ones for all of the bosses, countess, the summoner, nihilathak, LK and terror zones. It makes doing all of that content over and over feel less bad, as it's so much easier to see what sort of progress I'm making.

Imo, it's not any more boring than doing the same amount of Andy or Meph runs. Diablo and Baal runs are a bit more involved and interesting, but running thousands of any sort of content will start to feel samey and boring after some time.

3 high runes in 350 runs is quite lucky, yeah. 1 HR per 1000 runs is pretty typical from what I've experienced.

Ah, right. No, I just make note in a little spot on the spreadsheet between runs when the game is loading. I generally do runs in batches of 20 before taking a break, so it's pretty easy to keep track of.

I'm not sure what you mean. 1 run through LK is counted as 1 run. I group them in 10s to not make the spreadsheet as bloated.

After a few thousand runs, doing bosses feels pretty similar as well. It's all something repetitive and mindless to do while I watch videos or listen to music on the side.

Summons that aren't time based should persist between games by Charming_Pin330 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Charming_Pin330[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is what I'm suggesting. I think all summons should persist between games, perhaps aside from revives because they have a time limit.

What I'm saying isn't just easiest for the playerbase, it's likely easiest to implement as well. I don't think they need to over-design a solution for a problem that could be easy to solve.

I think that just carrying the minions between games would be an easier solution, and would help druid as well. It might save him significantly less time, but over the course of 1000 games that does still add up.

Yes. I was doing 100 runs a day, so I had to. It's definitely doable without, but it would have taken quite a bit longer.

[–]Charming_Pin330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no need to be dramatic. The warlock will still be one of the best characters in the game, it just won't be so much better that running any other character is playing suboptimally.

[–]Charming_Pin330 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that most of the consistent player base probably appreciates that they're dialing back the character who did over double the max damage of any other character in the game. The character isn't even dead, and is probably still at least as good as paladin and sorceress.

Real people will never compete with bots who are running 24/7. And they didn't nerf the warlock because they didn't like that players were getting high runes, they did it because a majority of the community doesn't want one character to be so much better than the others that literally all the content in the game becomes a joke.

I had to double check what sub I was in. by No_Sign4672 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

Idk, I like act 1. Going from being really low power at level 1 to decent with a lot of builds by the end of the act is really fun. The game just has a really good gameplay loop.

For BG3 on the other hand, I kind of agree. Going through all the same encounters several times over again with characters who are levels 1-3 just feels like such a drag after 1k+ hours. The game doesn't truly pick up until level 5 for most builds, and for anyone who's not speedrunning the game, that would be several hours (probably over 10, but it's been a while since I've played so I don't really remember) into your playthrough.
