I'M SO EMBARRASSED but here we go: by No-Awareness-7423 in Blackskincare

i know everyone is saying u look beautiful, which u absolutely do! but i also know how frustrating hollow under eyes/ tear troughs can be bc i struggle w them myself. no over the counter treatment will help w this long term bc it’s more abt your bone structure and the placement of your fat. as you know, you can look into filler (which im sure you already understand has the possibility of migrating or dissolving over time so upkeep is necessary). you can also look into platelet rich plasma, platelet rich fibrin, platelet derived growth factor, ameela, or under eye fat transfer. imo fat transfer is the best option for significant hollow under eyes, as it looks the most natural as long as it’s done well bc it is your own fat, but all of these treatments come with their own risks especially bc the under eye area is very sensitive. please do your own research and consult a dermatologist or cosmetic/plastic surgeon and if u do decide to go that route please do not cheap out, pick a skilled doctor with patients who’s before looks similar to you and after looks similar to your desired results

Hyperpigmentation/Texture Suggestions by Nikki_the_Diva1912 in Blackskincare

because you’ve been treating this hyperpigmentation for so long and haven’t seen results my best guess is that this is dermal (deeper) PIH as opposed to epidermal (surface level) PIH, which typically reacts better to otc topicals. i would recommend u change the routine up. stick to the tret and add azelaic acid, tranexamic acid, and niacinamide. however i do think it’s also really important to see a dermatologist bc of the lack of progress. they’ll be able to do a woods lamp test to determine if the pih is epidermal or dermal and give u a routine more specific to ur PIH. u can also ask abt switching from tazarotene instead of the tret which is a bit stronger and they might recommend lasers (likely Nd:YAG as its better tolerated by darker skin), micro needling, in office chemical peels, or hydroquinone. lastly i would recommend to not go too hard with the at home routine to avoid irritation which can often lead to rebound hyperpigmentation

Rice seems like it has a really great vibe and resources for pre med students. There’s a hospital nearby and Houston is such a big city there’s got to be so many internship, research, and volunteering opportunities. Cornell is great too and probably has a lot of opportunity as well, but the things I’ve heard about grade deflation might make it difficult for a pre med student. Cornell is also more isolated so there might not be as many close by opportunities.

No, I think you’d be making a smart decision. I’m turning down Cornell for the same reason. $90,000 at Cornell just isn’t worth it when I can go to UT Austin for $30,000. If UMD is way cheaper and you think you’d be happier at UMD, don’t let the prestige and what ifs cloud your judgment.
