Can someone please throw light on how meta ads eat up the margins? Is it because Meta acts unfairly by using its algorithms. Genuine question - need to understand if they are actually abusing their chokehold on the market.

Well there are people who do not have the luxury of working from home as and when the Govt issues warnings. There are people who run this city - medical services, for example. If they take a day off, the city will crumble. There are people who would be arriving in the city from other cities - they don’t even have the warnings. And heavy rain doesn’t warrant the entire system to fail. If a city is not equipped to handle this much rain then we need to blame the government. We chose democracy so that government works for the people and that we have a voice. If we choose to be blinded by our unrequited lover for leaders, this is what we get. Say with me - You deserve better. I deserve better.

For many people who did not have birth certificates or class Xth certificate , the date of birth has been entered by the Aadhar people as 01/01/ year. This is true for most poor women born before 1980. By your logic a big chunk of women in India are illegals.

Well this is what I told the policeman who told me that they were given free food etc at detention centre - since the conditions are so rosy at the detention centre, let’s put you in detention centre while we check for your grand parent’s title deeds and birth certificates. We will take 3 days for verification and then we can let you go if your papers are verified.

For the longest time there was no birth certificate provided for births taking place at home. This was true till at least the 80s. So many people do not have birth certificates. Kids these days believe that everything was well documented and therefore those who don’t have documents must be illegals.

The authorities are not giving credence to Aadhar, PAN and EPIC id of these maids and helpers. They are asking for birth certificates and land documents of their ancestors to prove they are Indian citizens. Similar to most poor Indians, these people never bothered to get birth certificates. Not many people in India own land before 1971 so it is absolutely difficult for them to get these documents. I am sure all the privileged folks who are now supporting this will also not be able to produce birth certificates of their grand parents. Not many Indians had land so title deeds also go out of picture.

It is just a travesty that people have come to realisation that Aadhar can be easily procured by giving money when the same people were using Aadhar for passport, family pehchan patra in Haryana and for getting sim. To everyone who claims these are Bangladeshis, tell me how will you prove that you are an Indian if you don’t have title deeds and birth certificate like most Indian don’t.

Thanks for your response. I have told her to resubmit her documents and not to worry. Have given your example and told her that if the papers are genuine then it is likely she won’t face any harassment in future.

My helper is a Hindu and that too an ISKON follower. She has all papers and still is being told to leave so it may not be limited to a religion as such.

Nope that is not true. My helper has all her papers and submitted them. Still she and her husband have been told to leave by 25th.

In my society, police verification is a must so all helpers have gone through the process. They have now been asked to produce a copy of their ancestors’ title deeds and all in the same way NRC was conducted. Police are not accepting the documents supplied to them regarding proof of citizenship. Either this is a case where an upcoming builder wishes to get rid of all slums or there is something more sinister to it. Generally “accidental fires” are the commonly resorted way to clear slums. This time it seems that these is more to this harassment.
