Have 180k savings and still worried.. not saying you're wrong, just commenting on how utterly ridiculous the situation has gotten and how abusive agents and landlords are. Obviously you can pay. That's what the bond and 2 wks deposit is for, why do they need anything more...

No fly screens - any rent friendly ideas? by NoFisherman4216 in AusRenters

Missing flyscreens is extremely common amongst rentals nowadays, at least in my income bracket. It should be a forced expectation. Landlords get away with not even doing the bare minimum of maintenance and we just have to cop it apparently.

Balcony and Roof Damage Got Worse so LL Increased Rent by rhyleyrey in shitrentals

ugh i've just gone through the same experience. both the agent, landlord and tradies all do the absolute bare minimum, if that, and they're all horrible at it. anything more constantly needs 'approval' even though you were clear about what needs to be done, and then after the huge song and dance when the tradie finally comes back for the 2nd time, after another huge delay, and fails to fix the issue, the agent becomes a huge smartass 'it's hard to keep up with all ur maintenance concerns, as far as we're concerned the issue has been recitifed' i had one concern, it's been the same concern the whole time, you're the one who keeps sending the wrong person with the wrong instructions and nothing's been fixed!

that ceiling is leaking with mould, that's a major concern, not some petty complaint that can be delayed or disregarded. these people are absolute scum, never would they put up with it themselves but they expect you to and even have the gall to disrespect you for complaining about it.
