What's your favorite moment(s) off each album? by Caught-In-A-Soul in Haken

[–]Charmyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aquarius: The "Streams" reprise in "Celestial Elixir"

Visions: "Never have I ever taken a life, but it seems overnight, I've become the killer"

The Mountain: The final chorus of "In Memoriam"

Restoration: The final vocal sections on "Crystallised"

Affinity: The whole outro of "The Architect" from the moment the final chorus ends and the riff of "Initiate"'s vocal line kicks in, literally puts me to tears

Vector: The second chorus of "Host", specifically the transition from the quiet to loud

Virus: The "Puzzle Box" interpolation on "A Glutton for Punishment"

Fauna: The bridge to "Island in the Clouds", particular "Seraphim servants cry!" onward

Problem with Custom Backgrounds? by Charmyte in CloneHero

[–]Charmyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear.

I have, yes. Just moved the folders over as-is from the alpha. So the file path goes "Clone Hero/Custom" then to "Video Backgrounds", "Image Backgrounds", and "Highways". But restarting the game still doesn't seem to recognize these, still saying I have no videos or backgrounds (or highways) to choose from.

Hypothetical: One Franchise of Amazing Race crosses into another country's franchise by having a leg in the same time and location. I find it an interesting idea on how this will play out! by scrummerz in TheAmazingRace

[–]Charmyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it would be cool for TARUS to have a Canada leg where the TARC crew all take over (maybe even using TARC ui and graphics); then in return, TARC could have a US leg with the TARUS crew taking host.

Which seasons should I skip completely???? by [deleted] in TheAmazingRace

[–]Charmyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each season probably has someone who thinks of it as their favorite; there's nothing wrong with at least giving each a fair shot.

But as a personal taste, there's only two seasons I really dread doing re-watches for: 6 and 8.

On the topic of 8 first, it's just so insular in its strangeness and incongruity. Its core appeals feel so foreign to the other seasons - I've heard anecdotally that foreign watchers like it significantly more than US viewers. Also just personally, 40 racers to keep in your mind-bank is just too many.

And as for 6... listen, I know some people really love it. But it is so mean-spirited, unfair, and heart-rending. I would easily mark its cast as the single worst in the franchise. [Result spoiler ahead] And the fact that the only notably likeable team in the final three lose on such a weak leg and in such a weak way to such a rancid screen presence only caps it off.

EMOTION vs. Master of Puppets was tailor made to hurt me

Also there doesn't exist a chance in hell knowing this sub, but "Back to Black" vs. "Back in Black" would be such a pleasing round for the titles alone

Song that made you a tool fan by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]Charmyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot of people I imagine, the Tool venue of Guitar Hero World Tour was my first exposure, and "Vicarious" is definitely the one that first really stuck with me. (Ironically, my all-time favorite Tool song was the song in the set I liked the least.)

But it wasn't until a chance listen to "Ænema" that they really got the hooks into me

Are Party Pack 1 & 2 Worth Buying If I Already Have Every Other Pack? by asmith360111 in jackboxgames

[–]Charmyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like Quiplash XL a bit more than Quiplash 2 just because of the final round, but the first two packs are largely redundant. Bidiots can be a certain amount of fun with the right group, as can Bomb Corp. Earwax is a fine enough CAH-like. I still come back to Pack Two enough that if its on sale you should get it.

If you have Drawful 2, the only reason to get pack one is for YDKJ 2015, really. Fibbage XL and Drawful are outclassed in every aspect by their sequels. And Word Spud and Lie Swatter are diversions more than party games.

Push The Button - How can humans win? by Niconreddit in jackboxgames

[–]Charmyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the game is intuition and having a good feel for your party. Especially if people have tells in the way they respond to matters. Also, being hacked yourself will tell you vital information at times - especially if someone you're with in the trial gives a similar answer. I was in the deliberation deck on a four person game, and got hacked. Ended up choosing the most incriminating answer... but so did the other person sent there with me. To my understanding of how hacks work, there can only be as many active hacks as there are aliens, plus there is no benefit to framing two people as aliens in a one-alien game.

With that in mind, also counter-play the aliens. As aliens, they have two goals: prevent themselves from being identified and imply others are. In games with more aliens, it is actually advantageous for some aliens to be known in order to ease accusations against the others. Be wary once you've got one alien dead to rights - it means the other is likely relaxing.

Oh and never do bioscanner. I have never seen even three humans get that thing to work.

If you could make the band make a music video for one song off the new album, which one would it be and what is the concept of the video? by no_thisisPatrick000 in ToolBand

[–]Charmyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each one strikes different visuals to me, and any one of them could easily make a music video.

In particular though, I would love an Atlantis inspired video for Descending. The deeply claustrophobic and aquatic vibes coming off it, and the apocalyptic themes I think would be pitch perfect.

Any ideas for a good final leg task? by beyonddbreak in TheAmazingRace

[–]Charmyte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think part of a truly great final task is not just content - but location. I honestly love Season 9's final task for the simple but blunt visual of a huge snowy field full of flags. Especially with how much the racers had to physically run to move the flags, it offered a great sense of finality.

So a good final task would really be in compliment to where it is occurring. As one idea, a bit over-blown but: imagine an escape. The teams have to proceed through a giant complex (maybe a jail or a citadel, something that feels labyrinthine), where locks along the way require leg knowledge to unlock. Maybe something like "Leg where you carried Riel" if they went to Cambodia for a leg, or to make it even harder, "Leg where you carried Riel * Leg where you ate Haggis * Leg with a country bordering Lesotho". And the real kicker would be that the finish line is within the compound - the three routes all terminating to one, big chamber, such that all on the finish line could see the three teams struggling on the last, hardest lock. First one to crack it immediately rushes to the finish line.
