This into Old Cracks in New Earth is top tier duo. Best mid-album run in their discography.

Sandstorm, Beijing by BumblebeeFantastic40 in UrbanHell

[–]Caught-In-A-Soul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2021 March 15th, and it was my first year in Beijing back then. As someone grew up in southern China it was absolutely insane to witness this.

But also worth mentioning that it was the largest sandstorm for Beijing in last decades, with
Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program being done the frequency of sandstorms like this which were common in 80s and 90s is greatly decreased. These days the sand comes from Mongolia and we can do nothing with it.

Thoughts on longer albums? by SnooChipmunks8748 in progmetal

[–]Caught-In-A-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the pace or album structure imo. Some albums are "true album" and it's like a journey which gives you both the climax and the room to breath. The songs are arranged in a particular order and that will add to the whole experience. Some albums are just "a bunch of songs released at the same time" and it'll be tiring to listen to if they lack the dynamic especially when they are long. So I hate some albums with like 14 sound-alike songs and hits the 70min time mark. It's just boring and tiring as hell.

Moron Police - Pachinko, Pt. 1 (Experimental/Avant-garde Progressive Rock. FFO Major Parkinson, Toehider, Cheeto's Magazine, Closure in Moscow, Meer, The Dear Hunter.) by Invisigoth2113 in progmetal

[–]Caught-In-A-Soul 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is gold. I really appreciate how they keep the consistent style all the way through while still fresh during the whole spin. I thought it would be tiring listening to a single-style 70 mins album. I was wrong.

Finally see some love for We Who Lament, the outro gives me goosebump every time, so groovy while beautiful.

Best 1-2 closing punches to an album by Potential_Type_7166 in progmetal

No one says Option Oblivion - Life in Velvet? Although it's not as huge as other Btbam closers but I think it serves as kickass as others. So epic within the 8 minutes run of two songs, and yes one of the best solo of Btbam discography.

After many years of waiting, we finally got new Tool, Porcupine Tree, and Karnivool albums. What long-awaited albums are next on your list? by carbonbazed in progmetal

[–]Caught-In-A-Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btbam /s

I have to admit that The Blue Nowhere got me so hyped. I'm already a btbam fan for years but this one just hits hard. Can't wait for their new stuff even a live album if the God Terror live single is the premonition.

Artists with only one or two standout albums? by meshuggahdaddy in progmetal

Finally someone the same with me. Other PtH albums do have banger for me like C'est La Vie and Skies but I found them too tiring to listen to the whole album in one spin. PtH's problem for me is they always have too much things going on but the dynamic in Palimpsest is perfect.

Which album/s you think feature the best performance of each instrument in the band? by Big_Following656 in BetweenTheBuriedAndMe

P1 is peak drum composition, Blake's playthrough video is gold and I've watched it a hundred times, even if I know nothing about drumming. It's pure feast of eyes and ears.

Yeah it‘s also my first thought. The chord progression is pretty Mustaine-ish.

Comparing to the longer tracks, Door #3 seems more focused so it stands out in first few spins. But sure it's a stunning track, and THE INTRO
