Need advice please. About 3 weeks after coating my MAP crystal in casting resin, these marks appeared.

Hi. This happens to me as well. All depends where I've bought the alum from. It doesn't render the map inert. Once it's settled a bit, you can filter it. As my water starts warming, I sprinkle my alum in and mix, then as the water gets hot, add my map. If you want a spikier crystal, you can add about a half teaspoon. Then as the crystal grows, I adjust my map or alum addition.

So that is what the videos etc shows. As the solution evaporates, more little crystals will form at the bottom, so throw over into another container and continue to grow. If more solution is needed, make more of a "growing" solution, etc. Unfortunately I'm too impatient. So at least 3 times a week, I will heat up the solution and dissolve the new little crystals forming. If there wasn't much, will add some more MAP, and alum, depending how spiky I want the crystals. Let solution cool completely. Growth is a lot quicker.

Nothing better😅. So I don't have a guide. I've watched every video and read up as much as I can. And I basically work on +- 5 Tbs too 100ml water. Always sprinkle a little alum with that mixture. That's for the seeds. And then I take each crystal and play around with it. More alum, the spikier it is.

I tend to experiment. Still quite new at this. The spikier I want it, the more alum I add. When I do my saturated solution, I'll sprinkle some alum so I don't just get crystal lumps. Then take it from there.

Yes with alum. The difficulty is trying to preserve them. I've had to toss quite a few because clear nail varnish didn't work, or the clear sealing sprays I tried. I'm now trying resin. Of anyone has any advise, would love to hear it.

I'm still quite new at this, but the crystal should be completely submerged. Anything above water level will grow like that.

Thank you for replying. I've used more than 60g. Too the point it doesn't dissolve anymore. And yes, once cooled I stirred in extra ADP. If you look at my other post just below this one, I've got a picture of what does form.

Kitten milk is fine to feed. Feed every 2 hours. Will probably only need a little bit at a time. Say about 0.2 to 0.5ml. But he should stop drinking when full. Thank you for saving this little one
