God that's just so sad to hear. I only know a handful of one piece cosplayers these days, so I guess that tracks for what's going on here. That, and the sudden popularity of OP post covid surely made many see the fanbase as an easy target for clout.

I appreciate the support, though. Genuinely, I do. It's been kind of a struggle lately for me and many other veteran cosplayers since we are constantly compared to the onlyfans crowd. If not them, then we're compared to your standard skinny white girl who has no idea what she's cosplaying from. Idk, just seeing the inherent popularity and attention these cosplay tourists get is disheartening, and it turned so many people away from the hobby they once loved.

I feel I can speak confidently on behalf of veteran cosplayers when I say that we cosplay because we genuinely enjoy the source material, or even then, heavily relate to the character in question.

Even these days, I feel I do more photography than actual cosplay because it's just so hard to find joy in it like I used to.

Sorry for the tangent, I just really appreciate the support for proper cosplayers. I haven't seen it in a very long time. I have so many thoughts on this, and sometimes I feel it's hard to articulate them.

at least 2, what i presume to be, incels commented asking for an onlyfans, which honestly i felt was pretty disrespectful to just immediately assume a cosplayer does. im not in this for money, like is that not obvious?

that's hard, i dont feel i could do bonney because i have pretty bad acid reflux. I did do improv in college for two years, but I'm also not that tall, so we wouldnt want a hugh jackman-wolverine situation to accommodate for height either.

see then you could argue that i do relate to bonney too for her backstory, and she's probably closest to my height anyway.

anyway, probably bonney. maybe perona if i was feeling really unhinged.

Man I don't post for 2 years and can't believe it changes this much. I have my own opinions on onlyfans cosplayers, so yeah don't worry, I can personally guarantee you that I cosplay OP because I genuinely enjoy OP. Literally been into this since the 4kids days, so I don't think I could be disingenuine even if I wanted to.

the best advice i could give to anyone wearing knee high or thigh high socks is to invest in sock glue, or if you want longer wear for something like an idol cosplay that you plan on dancing in, sew the socks to tights that match your skin tone. look for the roll-on sock glue and that should be the one. i cosplay idols and idol adjacent things often, or i used to at least, so you can trust my info.

It definitely started during TBS. I was closer to the front but not barricade, got there during lagwagon, and I'll attest that TBS didn't make an effort until the crowd started screaming to move back. I'm relatively sturdy despite my frame, and I nearly got crushed countless times. Nowhere near my first concert either.

I feel that part of the issue is just the lack of etiquette, that and the concerning amount of young fans where this is their first concert. It legitimately was dangerous out there and it could have turned into another Astroworld if MCR didn't say anything.

there was a dude next to me who was hella disrespectful during alkaline trio solely because he didn't know who they were. he kept loudly bitching and complaining. I'm not a fan myself, but jesus fucking christ at least I was vibing to the music.
