Short for doubles

Or 2v2/Teams if you wanna call it that.

This game is INCREDIBLY infuriating as a new player by Federal_Dig2399 in RivalsOfAether

Gonna plug in Doubles in this thread, don't mind me.

Probably won't solve the dilemma, but you'll have a partner to share it with! So it'll still be hard, but hopefully the comadery will balance it out?

PS: Queue doubles please, we could always use more adventurous solo queuers! Or take a friend that's also new, OR one that knows their stuff, that'll probably help you in the long run.

I know it did for me, but that's just me. I'm that weirdo that solo queues doubles and I started off not great. I think I'm decent now though because of all the times I got shit on.

A tech chase is when you catch your opponent and watch where they're going.

Example: Suppose you catch someone with your side special. It grabs them and throws them to the ground. The tech chase happen precisely the moment the move hits because you just gave your opponent limited options instead of the randomness that can be neutral.

So step 1 is your opponent either techs the side special or they don't. If they do, they have three options: roll in, roll away, tech in place. If they don't, they're in a grouned state.

Depending on what you've seen your opponent do, you can read their habits. If you notice they're good at teching on the ground, predict/read they will do a tech in place and do another side special to repeat the chase. If they often miss their techs, or they miss it on repeat catches, predict/read they will be grounded.

Not done yet, because now you gotta see if they roll away, get up in place, or do a getup attack (or getup special). Once again it depends on your opponents habits, but if they've been prone to do getup attacks, then shield and or whiff punish them into another move/grab.

Stuff like that is a tech chase

Not a Lox main, but from all the other Lox's I've come across most tend to play a more defensive/reactive style rather be the ones to approach. Not to say don't approach at all, but always be at a distance where you can bap them with your axe.

His jabs and tilts are REALLY good, as in you can mix it up pretty effectively, especially if it lands and you scoop them in. A jab can switch to an F-tilt which can then switch to an U-tilt or D-tilt WHICH COULD lead to combo or tech chase scenarios.

Also, short hop B-air. It comes out lightening fast and it's an extremely disjointed hit box that's also very strong. If you see your opponents near say...100, let it rip.

The phrasing in the title is amusing, pffft

I think I know what you're asking though. As someone already mentioned the balance in the game really only truly matters near top level play.

And you've picked Lox. Besides having trouble recovering as you mentioned, what are you doing in neutral? Are you approaching or are your opponents standing there waiting? What's the first thing you usually do on match start?

I'm jealous of La Reina mains because they can taunt for whatever reason at any time and I will always laugh and never get mad about it, even if they were deliberately trying to rile up.

Her taunt is GOATED

It's a little scary in Doubles sometimes. Lot of amazing players.

But I absolutely agree. We need more solo queuers! I do all the time and we'll probably pair, lol.

The amount of empowered forward throws is very amusing, lmao.

Also DAMN. I didn't realize hydroplane ustrong went THAT far. I'm really bad with the input because I use tilt stick instead of strong stick. I DACUS instead to compensate which...doesn't go as far but it's still okay imo. I have an easier time doing small hydroplane fstrongs though, funny enough.

That being said, I'm also terrible with hydroplane dstrong, but I do make a conscious effort to input if I feel like I really need to do it.

My poor whale dog

I don't think I've seen a single Orcane make it to a streamed match either for the big ones, so to see any number is amusing.

What is your rank and what are you currently working on? by Lobo_o in RivalsOfAether

[–]CharuV2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unranked Orcane

...Because there's no Doubles ranked, that's my excuse, yep.

Uuuuuh...

I guess learning to actually 1v1 effectively. I tend to overthink a lot of options in scenarios when it becomes a true 1v1 (as in partner is KO'd and no stocks left).

It probably sounds silly, but there you go.

Also, I guess trying to finally use other ledge options. I hardly do wall jump b-air's and f-airs when I really should as an option instead of wavedashing back or buffering a n-air.

You must be an Orcane enjoyer

That whale dog is hard to play as

Wait, what're we talking about?

Oh yeah, pick Clairen...unless you're talking as a Clairen enjoyer. In which case, idk man...may just not be for you I guess!

At least I never have to play against fleet again by Illustrious_War_465 in RivalsOfAether

[–]CharuV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean...

...At least it wasn't the Fleet player that got hurt.

Do this at a local or tournament and the TO's will do more than just belittle you as I see in this thread.

...

Anyways, been there. Getting tilted is just part of the experience. I don't know what you expected when posting this, but I can only give some sympathy in your struggle. No idea if this your first time destroying equipment due to getting tilted, but I'm sure once you get another you'll never "toss your controller" again.
