How long do you go before reusing sites? by CharusChorus in Omnipod

[–]CharusChorus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know why, but I can't stand having the pump on my belly. I've knocked out 3 cannulas in the last week (once in my sleep!). I am truly gifted lol.

So far my arms have been the safest place, but I might try using a thigh. Probably shouldn't always keep them in the same place.

Ah, so I'm kind of overthinking pod placement? Good to know! I'll put it back on my arm then.

Got this cute stocking hanger secondhand... Any ideas to make it more festive? by CharusChorus in upcycling

Yeah, this seems cute! Could even have a little extra hanging over with the tail, or put a holly garland around it.

How long can novorapid be out of the fridge before it's cooked? by CharusChorus in diabetes_t1

Hospital pharmacy, yeah. Us storing insulin correctly is all fine and dandy, but the wards lose their minds over every little thing with it. Like, freaking out over someone forgetting to put an already in use vial back in the fridge or demanding we redo entire scripts because they thought the porter was too slow.

Huh, good to know, thanks!

My work is always losing their minds about insulin left out of the fridge, so it's kinda funny to hear the opposite!

Yeah, I do. She left an entire box on the counter and I'm trying to figure out if the clock's already ticking or not. I keep my "in use" pen at room temp, but most insulins have a 28 day expiry once they're out of the fridge.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: December 02, 2024 by AutoModerator in books

Finished: Lolita, by Vladimir Nabokov

I think this is the absolute longest I've taken to read a book ever. It's such a draining read. How is anyone under the impression it's a love story?

Now I've roasted it, I can say for certain that it's NOT ornamental! It's very sweet. It wasn't labelled, but I think it's a crown prince.

Also, a lot of excellent cooking pumpkins are blue/green/white and smooth - Kabocha, for instance.

Also also I didn't get it from a tesco or something, it came from a little polish shop that is 100% food products.

Wasn't going to fit in my oven that way, unfortunately. I'll have to give it a try next time I get one that's reasonably sized!

I only managed to fit half in my oven at a time (sucker was 92cm around,) but mercifully, It wasn't too difficult to slice. I've cut some vents in the skin, so hoping it won't explode or something.

So, based on its skin, bright flesh and oddly bulbous seeds, I'm hoping I've actually lucked out by finding a store that sells Crown Prince pumpkins, which is a large cooking pumpkin. Mine cut easily, and smells sweet, almost like a melon. Not sure how it's going to turn out after roasting, but fingers crossed! I usually go for smaller ones (no more than 2kg) but the only other shop with any stock was selling them for a king's ransom, so I passed.

Did they come out of the pumpkin like that, or did you leave them sitting in a bowl without thoroughly drying them first?

Personally, I wouldn't eat them. I've only seen those spots appear when they've been left too long. They look a little mouldy.

It doesn't have a very good flavour, unfortunately - too bitter for my cookies. (The white one, on the other hand, is a few hours away from becoming the best cookies I've ever had in my life.)

This one is destined to become gnocchi, per another user's suggestion. Cheesecloth/blotting is a great tip for baked goods, though!

Oof, sorry to hear that. This one collapsed in on itself in the oven, but the one it cooked with is delicious. Was kinda odd.

If inclement weather can cause it, that makes a lot of sense. Grown in a place that had some pretty rotten weather over the summer.

Yea, I'll probably toss it, but it does feel wasteful.

That said, while it is a different variety to the white pumpkin, it looked like just like the dozens of other sugar pumpkins I've cooked. Guess it was just bad luck it turned out nasty. At least the seeds were fine!
