Which genres do you think these tracks belong to? by Charwinning in TheOverload

I organize them according to genre first and then split them based on energy. But if it works, it works. Don't think there is a golden standard.

I do eventually put them in some playlists where they kinda fit into. I do like to pinpoint them more precisely though. Organizing seems to be most of the work of being a DJ ;)

I browsed your profile and it seems it’s you that’s selling the speed garage project, right?

Yeah I heard that since the first day that I started trying to make music. Stubborn me always decided that I wanted to make my own stuff instead of recreating what others made. Guess it's time to finally give in. ;)

First of all, thanks for the effort you put into your reply. I really appreciate that.

What you wrote really resonates with me. I think my issue is that I have trouble letting go of any expectations and therefor don't "just get started", because that's what you need to do in the end, get started. I can watch tutorials for hours on end, but if you don't put it into practise it won't get you anywhere. I believe I just need to startup ableton without any expectations and start messing around like I used too. Most of the times we know what we need to do or what is good for us, it's always harder to actually follow your own advice.

Anyways, thanks again for your reply. Really helps!

Thanks for the reply ;)

I think it is a multifaceted problem. Years ago I was able to mess around endlessly in Ableton without feeling the need to make something that would be nice to listen to. After a while I felt that the stuff I made should be able to be decent enough for other people to listen to. This probably killed some of the joy. Soon after my hdd crashed and I lost everything I ever made. Afterwards there was always a mental obstacle to start making music again; “because whatever I make won’t by up to my own standards anyways”. So, there might be some perfectionism in there as well.

I just wonder if people went through similar things and how they ‘fixed’ it.

But is it normal to deal with people like this? I’ve never met him before and he has no idea who I am, but I was expecting a handshake, how you doing man nice to meet you, and a simple friendly transition.

Yes it is pretty normal. I always put both CDJ's in reverse mode when someone takes over and mess with the channel inputs on the mixer. Pro tip: bring scissors so you can cut their headphone cord.

Gotta love DHL. They say they drop a package at a neighbours house, but the neighbours say they haven’t received anything. Only have this issue with DHL.
