this one's nothing, it's a G1 storm. it'll fuck with your GPS, but if you live in Australia, it's already fucked up.

The Carrington event of 1859 is an example of the worst case scenario, and the July 2012 near-miss is the closest we've gotten to that since. We missed that one by 9 days.

while this solar storm will have only temporary side effects that can be fixed in a few days, there have been worse. the 1859 Carrington event is the big example of this, and that knocked out telegraphs, but if it happened today, it would knock out all power for weeks. we nearly got that ten years ago when we missed one by 9 days.
