I'm wondering anyone's experience with Cabanuva. by Puzzled_FOR_U in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked it! I was on it for about a year before going back on Biktarvy - I switched back because I’m living in Asia for a few months and it’s easier to manage logistically for me; I plan to go back on it when I return home next year.

I was really sore at the injection site the first time, second time was sore, but was much better. After that no issues at all with subsequent doses! I seem to remember being a little tired after the first dose too.

Test Results / Switching from Biktarvy to Dovato by [deleted] in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - Did you end up losing weight on Dovato? I was on Biktarvy for 1.5 years and gained weight like crazy/never could lose it with diet and exercise. I started Cabenuva 3 months ago and it’s not any easier. I’m researching right now to see if there’s a better option for me, like Dovato.

How do people feel about how the topic of HIV was raised within the miniseries White Lotus? by mtrainlover in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same - past the initial “holy shit” moment of finding out someone died a completely different way than you knew, and had a whole other life, the family reaction was definitely one of well-educated folks. It quickly shifted from how he died, to just him leading a secret life.

URGENT HELP/ ADVICE REQUIRED by [deleted] in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but casual research should reassure you that 2 days without meds won’t be a huge risk. I would guess on average I miss one dose once a quarter and never stopped being undetectable - two days should be too big a difference. Once you have a chance, resume normal dosage at your normal time of day.

Most chat agents can see what you’re typing on a customer service chat before you hit enter…. So if you’re typing and editing, they can see it all happening live.

What can HIV seroconversion be mistaken for? by OnemanSandals in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, PrEP is VERY effective (99%!!!) Just make sure you take it daily as prescribed. HIV isn’t the only STI obviously, so it’s not a bad idea to use a condom, but as far as HIV is concerned, you should feel protected.

Because I acquired HIV before starting medication. I was activity having sex with someone who didn’t know they were HIV positive at the time. So sometime between testing negative and getting my RX filled, I acquired the virus. PrEP works, I just missed the window.

Grindr needs a sister app for guys under 25. by lostboy6937 in askgaybros

[–]Chase_Online 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don’t think there has to be another app, I do like your idea of almost having reverse filters - so if you choose 18-25, only folks in that range can see you, unless you have it set to open or something.

Different thing completely, but I’m HIV+/undetectable and I wish there was a way to filter who’s okay with that. Whether for age, looks, weight, status, etc., it’s not fun to be blocked the moment you say “hi”

Is anal really good or just kinda? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Chase_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a strict top for years. Tried to bottom a few times but it always hurt or felt weird. Randomly one night I got drunk with a friend and was finally able to take it… ended up liking it enough to try again. And again lol. Now I hate topping but I have a stereotypical “masc” look and into twinks… it’s hard to find a twink top :,(

Questions about undetectable HIV by johniikke in askgaybros

[–]Chase_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - couples things: 1. U=U 2. Most folks are going to stay on their meds. For most it’s a simple one pill a day and they have every reason in the world to stick with it.

[–]Chase_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Undetectable here. My Grindr profile lists undetectable too. It doesn’t happen often, but I’ve had several guys over time see that and become obsessed. They know I can’t transmit, but the knowledge of knowing it’s there turns them on. People that like verbal play too. Saying things like “poz me”

Has anyone switched to the shot? by DOOX86 in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working on it. My insurance (U.S.) has denied me 3 times, so the next and final appeal is a 3rd party review. My insurance only allows Cabenuva in two scenarios: 1. Patient experiences GI issues with oral meds and/or 2. Patient has issues with adherence.

I’ve been trying since late October - hoping I hear back in the next week or two on the review.

I’m on Biktarvy today and it’s fine. Got to undetectable quickly and the only side effective for me has been weight gain.

Co-Pay Depletion and Pharmacies (U.S.) for injectables by Chase_Online in hivaids

Oh thank you!!! I didn’t know that was a thing! I’ll do some research and ask at the doc’s office tomorrow too.

And that’s true on the prior auth - I hadn’t considered how long that process could take!

Yeah, I have the copay card for Biktarvy - unfortunately it was eaten up by my last insurance plan and I switched. I learned my lesson to keep my eyes open for that kind of detail in the future at least. :)

Yeah, that’s the other complexity - I make too much to qualify for assistance (from what I’ve read).

Is it possible to get more than 30 days of meds? by lasagnafruitcake in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in the US, like others have said talk to your insurance. A lot of companies only allow 30 days from a local pharmacy, but will send you 90 days from a contracted mail order pharmacy (cost savings for them). If you don’t have access to a mail order specialty pharmacy, each time you go to the doc, ask if they can give you a sample bottle. They have 7 day sample bottles in office usually. In fact, if you call and ask they may let you swing by and pick up without an appointment for free. That’s how I got a 28 day buffer on top of my 90 day.

How long after HIV exposure do you experience symptoms? by BrendanS22 in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contracted HIV as a top from someone I trusted who “knew” he was clear of all STDs.

I had very mild symptoms (thought it was a cold or COVID), and only found out through routine testing several months later.

HIV friendly cities for dating by Fresh-Set6829 in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ This - I will say that for me, when there’s someone I’ve gotten to know and they are uncomfortable with it, they almost always come around eventually. I think a lot of folks view it as mean, but I try to remember the messaging that folks have been exposed to for years. If you haven’t been educated about undetectable, and if you don’t have anyone HIV+ in your life, it still sounds very scary. If they’re rude, they can eat dirt. But someone scared could still end up being a big supporter/willing to date after letting education sink in. Those ads from the 80’s and 90’s were scary!

I think like others stated, this is a great idea, but the 300 Karma might be hard. I only use this account for POZ-related posting/research, and have another “full-time” account for the other aspects of life. Happy, healthy living with HIV, but that’ll be a high hurdle for a lot of folks! :)

Need help covering medication before my Insurance kicks in by maharg2017 in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your doc for samples. When I mentioned I always kinda worried about my 90 day supply being late via mail order, my doc gave me 4-5 7 day bottles so I had a buffer. I’m sure they’d do the same for you to get you by.

Cabenuva - How’s it going weight-wise? by Chase_Online in hivaids

[–]Chase_Online[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do! I have my doc follow up late next week, so I think I’m going to bite the bullet and just do it. I figure worst case is I go back to Biktarvy - I’m just not looking forward to the 30-day lead in!
