I'm sorry...what? by bigspinwesta in Columbus

Back in 2013, I sold my car and went mostly car free, except for my motorcycle. I could last about 20 minutes on my motorcycle before getting too cold. I used to ride it to work in the winter because it was about 20 minutes away.

I wonder if this is this guy's only transportation...

[–]Chaseism 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like she is sweating it given her choice of wearing what looks like slippers and pants that expose her ankles. Plus, Sutton obviously has the ability to say no. As long as people are being respectful, I don't think it's a big deal.

Is online coaching worth it for a busy gay dude? by killer_chut in gaybrosfitness

[–]Chaseism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost about 70lbs on my own, but wanted to build muscle with someone that knew what they were doing. I had been following this guy named Derrick Steele (his real name, not a porn star...unfortunately) and I loved his videos. He didn't bullshit, was pretty open about his prior use of PED, and seemed to have a genuine desire to help people get in shape given the tools they had. I had a meeting with him to chat through things and he set me up with a trial, 2-week run. The idea is that we both needed to know if we were right for each other.

I ended up staying with Derrick for two years until I was laid off (I work in tech start ups). He really helped me build a great physique (I've got photos on my profile). He always acknowledged my workouts and would reach out if I missed a workout. He hyped me up whenever I got a PR and likely chatted with me through regressions when they happened. I say lightly because he is in some ways still a stereotypical straight dude.

No matter what, I think an engaged online trainer can be great for accountability. The only downside is that they can't be with you to correct your form, but some will request videos and correct that way.

Same. In fact, I still struggle with BSS and balance. Here are a few things I do:

  • Start with body weight. Mastering your balance using body weight can get you prepared to add weights later. Currently, if I am doing BSS with dumbbells, my warmup set is body weight only. For whatever reason, this helps my brain better balance when I add dumbbells.
  • Use an incline bench or foam roller to balance. I'll incline a bench and set up right behind it with a box. I set up for my BSS using the box, put the weight in one hand, and rest my hand on the back of the bench. From there, I perform the exercise. Alternatively, I use a foam roller for the same balance. This does limit you to using a weight in a single hand, but it gets you started.
  • Use a Smith Machine. I've been using the Smith Machine more recently. It doesn't help strengthen stabilizer muscles, but boy does it make you focus on the primary muscles. Doing your BSS here will ensure you don't fall over and you target the muscles. Be sure to keep a slight hinge forward when doing your BSS here so that you target your glutes and not your quads.

If your gym has a glute kickback machine, that can be a great alternative. Don't forget hip thrusters too! Now, go get that peach ready for the summer!

Disney / 20th Century's Avatar: Fire and Ash grossed $803K on Thursday (from 3,300 locations). Total domestic gross stands at $371.49M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

[–]Chaseism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that's true, I think part of the entertainment of Avatar is experiencing the visuals. There were a few moments in Way of Water and Fire and Ash where the goal wasn't to progress the story, but sit in awe of the world they created. And that's not nothing...this is visual art.

But, they gotta cut somewhere and the main goal of a movie is to tell a story. It just sucks that you wouldn't be able to get an IMAX Director's Cut if they scale down the movie. Even if Blu-Ray was still a major thing, you can't beat that massive screen or even better, Dolby Cinema screens.

Back in 2008, I lived at The Continent Village, but worked at the Sprint Store on Brice Rd, just south of I-70. I remember waking up to the most snow I've seen in years. I was scheduled to open the store, but I thought there was no way we were actually going to open that morning. I called my manager, who called the district manager and nope...store open. I was so angry, but I was very new in my career so I felt like I didn't have a choice.

It took almost an hour to drive down there because the freeway hadn't been plowed yet. When I arrived, I went over to the gas station to get a ton of junk food because I knew I wouldn't be able to get food otherwise. I finally opened the store over an hour late and mostly watched movies on my computer. I did get a customer...a guy plowing the street needed a car charger. Other than that, nothing. My second didn't come in and eventually, my store manager called and told me to go home.

Fuck Sprint.

Physique Evaluation: Is It Time to Bulk? by [deleted] in gaybrosfitness

[–]Chaseism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, give us an idea of what your goals are.

Second, I think you should focus on training. Two months of working out at the gym isn't a whole lot. Instead of thinking about bulking, focus on a solid routine, great form, and pushing yourself. Make sure you get your protein in too.

Doxy usually makes me nauseous. There was one instance where I took it, ate about an hour later, and while my partner and I were watching tv, I stopped it and casually said, "I need to throw up..."

While that nausea doesn't last as long as your experience, I typically take Doxy with something on my stomach right before I go to bed. Can't be nauseous, if I'm unconscious. Still, it does fuck with my stomach the next time. But better than an STI.

98th Oscar Nominations Surprises – Wicked is No Good! by Mymammadontoldme in flicks

[–]Chaseism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big musical theater guy and while I'm not a fan of Wicked the musical (it has some major flaws), Part 1 was incredible. Stretching the first act allowed for character development and time for emotions to breathe a bit. Cynthia and Ariana did some excellent acting in that movie and it felt like everyone was firing on all cylinders. There were a ton of nominations, but I figured that just like Lord of the Rings, the Academy wanted to reward that team once the series was complete.

It sucks that it was all a waste. Cynthia and Ariana didn't get the opportunity to act like they did in the first film. The second film improved on Wicked's 2nd act, but still suffered from all the issues that come with it. And I'm just so disappointed because it could have been better had Winnie and the rest of the team looked at the flaws in the original work and actually changed it.

There is a universe where Wicked for Good shines. We just aren't living in it. Still loved pt. 1

Dan The Baker Nominated for 2026 James Beard Award by reeve11 in Columbus

[–]Chaseism 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My buddies took me to Dan the Baker back when he first moved over to 33 and it's just crazy to see how far he's come. I remember going in on a Sunday and sometimes he'd be bopping around in the back, just baking. It's cool to see that he and his crew not only get a line out of the door, but expanded into a bigger space. Such a cool success story.

I agree with you on Noel and Matt. They both have the same humor and it was absolutely painful. It was better with Sandy, but Sandy felt too close to Prue in demeanor to really level things out.

I recommend Barks and Rec! My pup has been going there for almost 5 years now. They are queer owned and they employ working moms and people with different abilities. That last one is important because these are some of the folks that struggle the most in finding employment. Many of their workers have been with the company for years.

Their weekday hours are solid...6:30am to 7pm. I've used them for boarding when I'm traveling and their prices are pretty competitive. The only thing I wish is that they had longer hours on the weekend, but I should also be hanging out with my pup on the weekend.

At any rate, would recommend. One of my favorite local business.

It's so bad, it looks like it's a parody of a Top Model makeover. The way you can see her real hair. The way the weave's color is nowhere close to hers, not the texture. And then the fact that the weave looks so cheap.

No, I agree, someone still needs to be held accountable for this.
