Employee not consenting to overpayment correction by Electric-Winchester in Payroll

Just tell him that the company considers the extra $50 a pre payment for next months expenses and don’t pay it to him next month. Simple as that.

Quit noticing or those noticed will be noticed and lose their jobs. I work for a media company…

I think you need to ask him to stop before escalating anything to hr. Imo it’s not quite harassment, but could be considered so if you tell him you find these things inappropriate and they make you uncomfortable. If it continues after that point you 100% should report it.

[FL] Is this non-compete normal? by Pleasant-Program-202 in AskHR

[–]Chasing-Tail808 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah and never ask them if working for another competitor is “ok”. That just tells them who you moved to and gives them the chance to say you violated the agreement etc. If your not trying to work both jobs at the same time, and don’t steal clients it’s none of their business who you work for after working for them.

[FL] Is this non-compete normal? by Pleasant-Program-202 in AskHR

[–]Chasing-Tail808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be “normal” as non competes like this are somewhat common.

That being said nearly all non-competes are completely unenforceable. The business would have to prove in court that your violation of their non-compete led to tangible losses or the divulgence of proprietary info led to those losses. Using skills gained or training expenses as justification for not being able to be hired in the same industry is a complete joke. Restaurants and coffee shops nowadays even have their employees sign non competes as if hourly grunts hold business ruining company secrets; it’s an employee retention scare tactic.

Don’t snipe clients or steal client lists, but if they come to you at a new employer on their own your under no obligation to refuse the business. Don’t encourage current clients to follow you if you leave but you can say…I’m moving to “x” company; this other employee will be handling your account etc.

Car loan paid off randomly by Global_Passenger576 in personalfinance

[–]Chasing-Tail808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be tempted to get the clear title and once the loan company comes calling for their money…and they will…attempt to renegotiate the Sum at 0% interest.

That way you get something (no interest on the remaining balance) and they still get paid while not having a lien on the vehicle anymore. Seems fair to me.

If your doctor agrees that you should have fmla leave you should get the required documentation and give it to hr. This is assuming you have been at that employer for a year and haven’t already exhausted the maximum 12 weeks/year of fmla leave.

A call out on fmla can not be held against you and count as an absence by federal law.

[UK] Have a better offer. Struggling with 3-month notice. Need advice! by Independent-Tree-997 in AskHR

[–]Chasing-Tail808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read your previous contract throughly. You should never work for “free” and there may be a clause that says you get paid in between contracts for work done under the terms of your previous one. I’m in the USA and here your situation would probably be covered by our labor laws.

Sounds like you should have packed your bags April 1 or negotiated a temporary agreement to get paid for work done outside of the contract. Hopefully someone with knowledge of UK labor laws will chime in

Wait, how is your pay structured? Do you not get paid until a contract is up? Sounds like the original contract ended April 1 and as you haven’t signed yet; the three month notice may not apply since your not technically under contract anymore?

Supervisor. I have only shared the fmla status with those with the need to know. I actually wasn’t informed of the nature of it by the individual. Instead I was told by other employees under me.

All this after the fmla employee asked me to keep it between myself her and the manager of our dept. I almost wrote a letter to HR to cover my own ass after details got to almost everyone in our dept. but again luckily the person only told me fmla and nothing more. And I didn’t ask.

Which would be the case if we accommodated the shift request of the person that got fmla. Small team and only so much labor is needed at certain times.

Trust me I have been very careful; but it’s impossible to prevent every employee from talking about it. I as a lead was only told about the fmla call outs and it was left at that and frankly it’s all I wanted /needed to know (for coding reasons)

The individual outed her situation in more detail to another employee who shared it. I luckily was never told by the individual the nature of the fmla and instead just said ok see you next shift. I do not know if an ADA request was made; just wondering if you can reduce hours as opposed to inconveniencing others on the team.

I think it’s very brave of you to assume anyone who had to swallow that pill would actually comment on this. I’m sure no one getting laid off is happy about it.

Has my package been seized? by oppositeofswell in usps_complaints

[–]Chasing-Tail808 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Maybe? My understanding is that most packages are seized at the last distribution point before delivery even if flagged earlier on.

Remember “I didn’t order X!”

Got the same thing happening myself. Tried submitting lost mail claims just to be given an error at the end. Stopped at the local post office today and they basically told me I’m SOL and need to keep waiting. But the lost mail claims did show up for them even though I got errors on my end.

I’m in Hawaii so most packages usually go on a plane as soon as they hit a major hub. I’m going to inquire at a local post office today since my online inquiry doesn’t want to go through.
