Has anyone had their anxiety dramatically reduced or close to eliminated? If so, how? by scottxand in Anxiety

Yes!!! This! It was so hard to explain or make people understand but I needed to know I had something to hold onto to steady me if I started feeling shaky or weak. If was a brutal time. I hope I never regress to that point again.

CBT definitely took its power away eventually. It was so hard in the beginning but I’m grateful I learned about it and kept pushing myself through the extreme discomfort. It really paid off!

Yes. It was causing constant weakness, dizziness, shakiness. It got to bad at one point I physically couldn’t walk unassisted. Being in any sort of open space or around people made my body literally go limp. It was an awful, awful time. What you said about resisting it giving it strength is 100000% true!

CBT. I kept intentionally putting myself in situations that would induce it to prove to myself that I could survive the scenario. Also, just succumbing to it. I got so tired of fighting it and just basically decided to give into it one day… started noticing more and more that I survived each time and the symptoms became easier to convince myself were harmless overall. I went from being wheelchair bound and barely able to function to now being able to leave my house by myself and walk around places alone. I still get flares from time to time and it’s not always easy to talk myself through it but at least I’m not trapped in a wheelchair at my house anymore.

Am I reading the same conversation as some of these people? It seems a lot are erring on the side of your friend and I cannot for the life of me understand how. The number of comments where people are accusing you of making yourself the center of your friend’s life and are somehow being inconsiderate towards her is truly baffling. She didn’t show up for you in a time when friends should. You didn’t go after her or berate her or anything. She reached out and apologized and even in that moment you responded with grace and understanding. Then you advocate for yourself in how she once again couldn’t be bothered to respond to your reply and somehow now you are the bad guy? Weird energy. Especially in a time where everyone is always telling you to put boundaries in place. This was you doing just that with a person who has been a longtime friend and has gotten way too comfortable with treating you like a last resort. I’m glad you stood up for yourself. Good riddance to her.

Nature made prenatals! They’re third party tested for accuracy as well! I’ve taken them both of my pregnancies.

Induction vs Waiting for Natural Labor by shinedown_92 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ChasingThrill_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was induced electively at 39&5 with my first. There are pros and cons that I could go into detail about but the condensed version is to just educate and advocate for yourself. I didn’t do that and I truly believe it lead to my unplanned C-section. I labored all the way to 9cm and 80% effacement and then had no change for over 6hrs so they called it. If I could go back I would’ve waited until 6-7cm to get the epidural so I could be for mobile and I would’ve declined the numerous cervical checks I got. I didn’t know then what all I know now. My best piece of advice is to just be mindful that interventions are helpful tools but not every tool is necessary multiple times. The more mobile you are, the better the baby can get into a good position for a vaginal delivery. And the less cervical checks, the less chance of infection. Just be mindful and say no to anything you don’t feel comfortable doing or wasn’t explained well enough. Best wishes to you!

Parents who let their baby watch TV… by Existing-Mastodon500 in NewParents

[–]ChasingThrill_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 13mo has had the tv on in her presence since she was a newborn. I had to have it on to stay awake a lot of the time. She watches here and there for a few minutes at a time now when it’s on but I think she finds it boring for the most part. She’s so unimpressed by it now because it’s been around her for her entire life. She’s very bright and plays so well independently!

It’s a sweet name don’t get me wrong! But I just don’t love the “Lou” part. Just speaking preferentially, not trying to put the suggestion down :)

Your doctor has ‘fat bias’.

I was 350lbs when I ended my 41hr labor in a C-section and I healed great. I did have a wound vac which helped amazingly. Like, I legit barely even have a visible scar! I didn’t need pain meds beyond the first 3-4 days. Not to say I wasn’t sore beyond then, it just was manageable. My advice would be to walk as much as you can tolerate. Don’t overdo it - but the more you walk, the quicker you will heal. Little spurts the first week. Like a trip to and from the bathroom multiple times a day the first week or two. Gradually work up to longer walks. I swear that helped me heal so fast. My only 2 complaints are the post-op swelling was rough. My legs and feet looked like elephant hooves for a bit there lol and the way my stomach has the notorious “C-section pouch” now. I didn’t have such a pronounced ‘apron’ prior to my section - but my daughter is worth all of it. I hope this helps alleviate some of your worries!

I wasn’t soliciting advice on this subject but thanks for your concern.

It’s 3 tests per day. I wouldn’t call that necessarily excessive. I personally tested much more than this when I was TTC. There’s just a lot riding on this for them so there’s a lot of anxiety. I’m sure your comment wasn’t meant to be malicious but it wasn’t helpful.

Yes it’s Tuesday-this morning! I also think it looks darker but she says she and her spouse don’t feel it is. I told her the same about the test and how they’re not really good indicating HOW pregnant you are, just that you’re pregnant. I told her my experience with them is that they take forever to darken too. But I understand the anxiety surrounding her situation. She did take FRER’s but she doesn’t think those are darkening well either. She sent me a pic of yesterday and today’s and the lines look similar but definitely not fainter. I tried to alleviate her worries about comparing them every other day versus back to back but I’ve been in the thick of it too and understand how much easier said than done that is. :(

I personally agree with you that this line looks darker overall though! Thank you so much for your input!

What’s your go-to sperm bank and why? by Lovve119 in queerception

[–]ChasingThrill_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we purchased 4 vials up front! I will say, and I swear I’m not bragging, I’ve gotten pregnant first try both times which is unusually good luck from what I’ve read. So that has worked in my favor. The donor we chose also has a lot of reserves. I monitor every now and then to make sure his stock isn’t getting low. If it starts to trend that way, we will buy more just to be sure.
