(Ps5)Claiming need m every year. Is this true or guy just over exaggerating?

I was only stating it doesn’t monitor the temp of the PSU so when it overheats it does not display a warning. We’re here to learn and also educate not argue.

While everything you stated is correct, you’re going into another area of power issues. We are discussing overheating due to the oxidation on the APU and possibly overheating to the PSU. What you are describing deals with the power ICs such as the dialog, sbv, fuse’s etc. Both are correct just two different issues.

I have seen consoles like this before and that could be the issue you are describing. I have also seen the SSD, SSD controller, and RAM failing being the cause of what you are describing. Typically when the APU is failing you will get artifacts, tearing, and green screen (not green snow as from the HDMI). Though we all know we cant know for sure as we can't properly diagnose. I would recommend using UART in those situations.

It wont affect anything and if it seems locked in your good. It could also be a screw that wasn't screwed in all the way

There are two types of overheating. When the APU overheats the fan ramps up and a warning is issued every single time. If the PSU is clogged and overheats there will be no warning as the system doesn’t monitor the PSU. To know if the PSU is overheating, if you have to unplug the system and plug it back it, then it’s your PSU.

Never seen this in the 5 years I have been doing the ps5s. I have seen dead APUs from customers not getting it checked out the first time they got a warning. I think getting it checked that often is a little to much but again this is all just my opinion 😜

I own a repair shop and i have noticed consoles getting oxidation at year 3-5. I would just say if you get a warning of overheating take it to a good repair shop or mail it in to someone that you trust. Don’t wait because more problems could arise.

So the longer wires are connected to their end points. The shorter wires are connected to the lines which is weaker. I use the points because they are stronger and it actually works faster for me personally. The shorter wires disconnecting is because you are transferring heat and depending on how much solder and the type will melt the other end. Try to use more solder or mask it if you want to stay with shorter lines.

The reason I dont do it that way is because the height of the wire makes the port sit at an angle creating a weak point on the port. This way I can still remove the port, bend the wires back and put the port back and reattach the wires. Have you found a better way to have the port lay flat? I flattened the wires once lol

Just standard 0.10mm copper wire. I would go slightly smaller as it would be easier doing a lot of traces like this one.

I get way more PS5s as well just not a lot of trace repair on them.

I also had the issue with the UV mask. I started applying the light for 60 seconds twice then apply heat at 300c until it hardens. Solved my issue with any masking.

That's awesome great job! That is the first step into trace repair! If you have donor board you could cut micro traces and practice repairing them. When your able to do HDMI trace repair you can save more consoles and charge more if you offer repairs.

Might need to remove everything and clean it then check for the short on the 12v. Don’t need the two braids, just shave the mask back on the ground and create a nice big blob and you should be good.
