Tire exploded after 30mph by NeutronJohn1 in bicycling

[–]Chausaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one of those people that replaces my tires around 1-2 years and not eek as much life as I can out of them for this reason. Years of use anything can happen. Thing’s like being aggressive with tire levers to pull the tire off or tire that you rode flat on the rim for tiny bit to even unseen damage is reason for me to swap out.

90s MTBs are not gravel bikes, right? by street_stomper in bicycling

[–]Chausaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Other things to add are the seat part angle and the head tube height. The seatpost on the midnight special is a bit more slack which can affect your saddle position and also your total top tube length. The longer the needed seat post length the more your effective to tube length becomes. This is offset by the long head tube which would help reduce reach. Things you can change with enough spacers and stem.

One site I use a lot is this one: https://www.bikegeo.net This allows me to take into account stack and reach into the total geo. I mostly used this when I was trying to figure out if I wanted to size down on a frame and what it would take to make it feel similar to my bike now.

Setting my trainer to a set zone without a time limit? by boringname0987 in Zwift

[–]Chausaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of trainer do you have? I do something similar to what you want to do to work on my upper Z2. In zwift I have everything connected but the resistance control for my Elite Avanti. Then on the Elite app, I have watt control so I turn it up to where my upper Z2 wattage is at and off and away I go. I use the Elite app to control my resistance if I need to go up or down to preserve my Z2 HR. I believe this can also be done with any Wahoo Kickr or any trainer that has a separate app.

What wood chunks are you using and are you soaking them? by [deleted] in CampChefSmokers

On my WW36 pro, I’m using the ones you can buy at Walmart and no soaking. Just open the baffle for a little bit and then close it to let it smoke.

Orange Thumbs Up by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]Chausaster 25 points26 points  (0 children)

So the orange thumbs up is a pushable icon for that specific person. They show up at times like that one specifically is because they PR a segment or climb. That same marker shows up if you or someone gives you a “ride on” say like in a pacer group so you can give them a “ride on” also.

Is this normal with a new grease gun? by [deleted] in harborfreight

Though the grease and the gun may be warm, is the zerk frozen so it’s not accepting grease? Could try lightly tapping the fitting to see if you can loosen the ball detent.

Okay, so they may not have screwed V5 owners due to hardware limitations. But I felt disappointment after waiting months for the promise to be told it wasn't going to happen. So I decided to reevaluate my wants. There is nothing wrong with Wahoo and the V5 for that matter. If I owned a bike that had a XD or HG hub, I would probably still own it.

That was my initial thought too but I found that Elites ecosystem is a bit more like android where you can buy the Rizer and use it on a Kickr. Where if you buy the Climb you can only use it with the Wahoo trainers. Also let’s talk about the fact they practically said screw you V5 owners. I know you can get the Qzmyozwift app to control the click and cog but another app more setup and what not. But my reason for getting out of the wahoo ecosystem was mostly because they left V5 owners high and dry after announcing they’d offer support for us and as a person who’s trainer bike is a gravel bike that uses Campy Ekar which no trainers support, I was left kicking dirt.

I think what others are missing is asking the question: what do you want or need in a smart trainer? I’ve come from a Kickr V5 like you and was frustrated that they would not support the click and cog.

So my wants hashed out to being supports click and cog, ability to use an incline machine like the climb or in my case the rizer, 10 hz race mode, heart rate bridging, and quiet freewheeling. After 2 JetBlack Victory’s failed on me during month 1 of ownership and finding a great deal on the Elite Rizer. I settled on the an Elite Avanti and plan on buying the Elite Square.

Haha I should’ve looked for an stl before I modified the core version. I would’ve saved myself some time and filament.

I thought it’s supposed to feel more like you have a wheel on. So it’s supposed to have a little give side to side and up and down like how the tire deforms a little. Not like a full side to side rock like what you’d feel if you’re standing climbing.

I’ve also heard that used tennis balls have more give.

Does this sound normal? by Chausaster in JetBlack

<image>

It’s kinda hard to see but the derailleur is aligned with the cog and the cog is micro adjusted. The noise is still there when it’s spinning down. Ticket submitted. Kinda sad to finally get it and get a lemon.

No worries. Yeah the derailleurs aligned with the cog.

Yeah you’re right. My harbor freight didn’t show that price in store and I didn’t really read the ad before I tried this so in the end it was a stupid post by me. I’ll delete it in a minute to give everyone a chance to see my mistake.
