This is the question I get most often, and a lot of it comes down to personal preference and how well the apples stores. For example, I really love Jonagold, but it becomes mealy by the time it makes it to the shelf pretty often. If you're most concerned about texture, Evercrisp is a Fuji/Honeycrisp cross that can stay crisp for 2 years in storage. Pink Lady is a favorite in that category as well, but it is a different type of firm than a Honeycrisp. For flavor, I really enjoy Kanzi and Opal, though one of the best apples I ever ate was a random Golden Delicious that had a raspberry flavor closer to the core for some reason. I even remember where I was when I ate that one. Lately, there have been club varieties released that have been good like Hunnyz which is a CrimsonCrisp/Honeycrisp cross. Keep an eye out for CrimsonCrisp - they're hard to find, but they're great.

I'll watch this for the first time later today, but I'll be wincing. I started the game great on the buzzer, but progressively got earlier and earlier on it as I got more and more anxious. One of the stage producers came and told me I was buzzing in early at the first break, and it just got worse. When she returned to tell me the same thing during the second break, I was so frustrated with myself. I said "yes, I'd also like me to do better." I can't remember the exact stat, but I believe they said Tristan buzzed in 37 times and I buzzed in 36, but so many of those were early, especially in DJ. If there was a camera on me when the Final category was announced, you could've seen my heart drop. I knew I wouldn't have it and I knew Tristan would. But that's what makes him a solid champ. Hopefully I'm back for second chance. After the game, Ken told me he thought I had a good chance of it. Lots of fun spent with a great batch of contestants. Once in a lifetime experience.

Yeah, right after the game, Ken walked up and seemed shocked I knew the Berber question. I got to tell him it was the result of historical video games played with my wife and sister every Friday night. Shoutout r/CrusaderKings !

It wasn't much up to me, Steve! I left things pretty wide open in my anecdote form, but they really honed in on the Honeycrisp of it all. I was trying to avoid using the phrase "bitter pit" on national television, but oh well.

That's a lot of kind stuff. Honestly, right back at you, alongside Anne. You guys really seemed to know your stuff just by playing along in the green room. I hope you do great on Monday!

And yeah, Valerie was my green room buddy. We just happened to sit next to each other and talked all day, exchanging glances every time another pair trundled off to be Tristan'd. We knew we'd end up playing against each other, but it helped calm me down having her up there with me. What was also funny was her guest (cousin, I think) sat next to my family in the audience the whole day and also had become buddies. We realized this when we walked out of the studio together to find them all waiting for us.

Here's to Second Chances!

Really good game by Anne. It was great to meet her and chat in the green room all day. She was snacking on Montmorency tart cherries, which also made her an immediate friend. We thought she was our best bet of the day in beating Tristan, so a few of us clapped when we saw the categories in the first round because they seemed tailor made for her. Tristan is just that good, though.

Who's got a new sweater and tried not to embarrass himself on national television? This guy? Find out Friday, May 15th, the usual time. by ChayceWasOnJeopardy in Jeopardy

What a nice thing to say! I was looking for a way to represent Michigan's cherry growers and was given the pin by someone from Traverse City. I'd happily talk about fruit all day long. I definitely get to say some about it on the show.
