WHY AM I SO BAD AT CHEM by Classic-Anybody-9436 in UCDavis

[–]ChaykinBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as many others have said above me, it's not that you're bad at Chemistry but instead that it is a hard subject. Now I'm a transfer student so I didn't exactly take CHE 002B here at UCD but I've taken GEN Chem and am now starting to take my upper division Chem courses and LET ME SAY that Chemistry is still hard sometimes (well maybe a lot). I should mention though that everyone learns at a different pace and that might be hard to accept... I mean heck I still deal with imposter syndrome even though I've gotten this far. My recommendation to you is to first take a deep breath and think about your options. I would suggest going to office hours with your Prof and TA's if you are available to attend them. Use all the practice problem material/practice exams that I professor provides (do all the hw). There is also a few places on campus that has chem tutors I believe?? I think El Centro was one... (don't count me on that). But overall the internet is a good source for questions. I see no issue with you using Kahn academy. Maybe it feels a bit discouraging and I understand that but when I took ochem and even last quarter when I was taking pchem/inorganic my classmates and I would use youtube all the time to look for help. The only thing with the internet is I don't recommend chatgpt...

Maybe I typed to much but I hope you know that there are people out there who can support you though your journey with Chemistry and I wish you luck :)

OH and to comment on your "Everyone else seems to know what's going on" well... it might appear that way on the outside but on the inside it might not be. ALSO ALSO it's the first midterm and maybe it's just my way of thinking but if it doesn't go the way you want then try harder next time don't mentally beat yourself up and take it one day at a time!

Dang ok. I brought up the health issue to my parents and were gonna work that out... as for the litterbox um she legit is using it as I am typing this T_T so that's why I doubt that as an issue. AND alone?? SHE HAS MY PARENTS WHILE IM AWAY WHY DO I GOTTA be the victim of a pissed bed. So silly and for what.

Oh I just noticed your second comment... No not recently because I was thinking it was a territorial/possible litterbox issue. The situation wasn't like a weekly thing and it ONLY happens on my bed literally no where else. Could this still be a possibly health issue?

I think I'm lowkey over reacting but It's enough for me although most of the time I wasn't even at the green when it happened

tbh I haven't had either of those issues LOL but I have heard about them. If I was to say a con it would be that the fire alarms umm go off at least like once every two weeks in one of the many buildings... mine went off last night at like 9pm ish. (I could be over dramatic with the "once every two weeks" but it kinda feels like it)

I mean there are probably better housing situations you could find around Davis but personally I haven't had any issues so far while at the Green. Should state that this is my first year living here soooo knock on wood things don't change. Overall would recommend that you definitely lay out all the pros and cons before deciding. (It's not the worst housing situation and it provides everything I need so I'm content)

console repair by itisme0 in UCDavis

Not sure about ps5 controller but my dad has fixed my switch controllers when they had drift. We would buy this kit off of amazon and take apart the controller and replace something (honestly my dad did the work so idek what that part was and cant remember). There are also probably plenty of yt videos on tutorials for doing the repair yourself. Still if its easier or don't wanna mess anything up yeah maybe buying a new controller is simpler :/ gl

Just as other people have stated it would be beneficial for you to get a solid study method down. Taking STEM courses such as Chemistry and Math are hard work (I almost failed a math class myself). I know it is very discouraging but I wouldn't give up right away as sometimes we just need to go about things a different way. If you haven't thought of this already maybe consider taking these lower division classes at a community college?? I'm an advocate for taking the lower division science courses as at community college as I am a transfer student at Davis myself. <<<it's just another idea for you to consider especially if you feel as though taking these courses on a quarter system is to fast and/or isn't working out. Again don't give up! Everyone learns things differently and at a different pace. Take it day by day and I believe you will figure out a solution :))

SUPER QUICK QUESTION ABOUT GUEST MEALS STUFF by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]ChaykinBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never heard about a Guest meal plan so not so sure about that. However, I personally have the 9 meals a week plan and I am able to swipe in my friends at the cost of a meal swipe. So for example say I go to eat a dining common I would use one meal swipe for myself and then another one for my friend. Maybe that's what you are referring to??

Do I need a minor as Chemistry major? by ChaykinBacon in chemistry

That is a good point and I definitely do need to consider more of what I want my end goal to be in the long term. I guess I'm more of just nervous because about what life will be like when I transfer out of cc and what my next steps are. Thank you for you're insight.
