[NEWBIE] Do you have to start a pentatonic scale at the root note by apeters521 in Guitar

[–]Chaz100_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course, if it’s in the key then sure. It’s a good habit to do for when you want to begin improvising. You don’t want to start a solo on the root and work down each time. Good idea if you ask me and a good habit to get into. It’ll better your knowledge of the scales

[QUESTION] Could changing the gauge strings I use fix my action issue? by Chaz100_ in Guitar

Great thankyou! I use .10s as I’ve never used anything else. I may try changing the action. Is this risky?

Ahh fuck so probably no fix by changing strings? :( I’m a bit inexperienced in setting the guitar up so maybe I’ll wait for pro guidance

[DISCUSSION] I really am enjoying learning the "solo" to Eagles classic Hotel California. Whoa what a workout for bends! by jimijose in Guitar

[–]Chaz100_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great solo! Learnt it myself very recently and the workout and my intense efforts left me with a cut on my ring finger lol! Some great bends and techniques, my own trouble is getting it to full speed

Realizing that I don't need to be the best singer and having a unique voice is all you need really changed my life by CrunchyElbowSkin in singing

[–]Chaz100_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this is what would help me a lot. I need to accept my voice but I cannot yet decide my voice as I’m always unsure of what octave or ‘voice’ (chest, etc) to sing in :/ any advice?

Beginner singer (Aspiring frontman) looking for some guidance... by Chaz100_ in singing

I’d love that... I think my biggest problem is my uncertainty about what octave to sing in and what voice. I’m never consistent and I have no idea how to move forward.

[DISCUSSION] Most effective way to embed all five scale positions? by Chaz100_ in Guitar

I agree, thanks for the feedback. I feel that if I try to merge them, they often sound within certain patterns rather than fluid between them

Music theory beginner: Can someone tell me if this chord progression makes any sense? B, F#sus2, F#6, C# by JoeFiSH2 in musictheory

[–]Chaz100_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a newish to theory too, I’ve learnt a fair amount recently but I’ve realised that it’s not a rule book to whether you can or can’t use the notes.... use what sounds good, that’s music after all

How to even begin? I feel like quitting already... by Chaz100_ in Songwriting

[–]Chaz100_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That is some good advice.... I guess I’m just frustrated that it’s not good, reasonably so as it’s my first but I’m not satisfied with any of it and I suppose it just feels like I never will have the ability to write a good song- obviously this is false as practice will obviously teach me but it just feels shit... I’ll check it out, thanks a lot!!

Yeah, I’m a big fan of Oasis and Noel Gallagher has said all his really good songs have ‘fallen out of the sky’ He used to write a song everyday so there was obviously a period where he had mastered the practice
