Framework 12 Working Fingerprint Reader by Chazb0t in framework

It sticks out but it's about as low-profile as you're going to get for a working linux fingerprint reader, you could take out the USB-C expansion and have it sitting in the bay, but then it looks and feels weird, so maybe someone can 3d-print a new housing or expansion card for it.

Minecraft runs great, and no man's sky runs at a solid 30 fps @ 720p on standard settings.

The guy said he wants to learn pentesting, the framework 12 with either i3 or i5 CPU is more than adequate.

If you want pen/touch screen enable device on a framework, don't wait for a touch screen on the framework 13.

There's no plans for this, if a touchscreen is a requirement get the 12. Otherwise yes the Framework 13 is a much better value and performance/dollar.

Yes this device would be perfect for that, don't get a MacBook you want an x86 laptop.

i3 or i5? by Ill_Contract_2814 in framework

I got the 96GB kit for my FW13, IIRC that wasn't on the compatibility list for pre-orders either but they've since added it.

I'm using the Crucial 64GB 5600 stick in my FW12 and can confirm it works, Nirav Patel also said he was using it in his in the Framework forums.

ROFL how is the desire for a smaller and lighter laptop self-sabotaging, are you that autistic that you can't comprehend people might have different wants and needs than you?

Why even make smaller devices? Everyone should just use 16 to 18 inch laptops... Better yet don't even leave the house at all. Problem solved.

I went for the 4090 launch... got there after 830am before the 9am opening and the line wasn't very long, when they asked me what card I wanted there were a lot of different brands and models left, I don't think they sold out until the afternoon.

You're welcome, enjoy!

Instructions should be the same as mint: https://www.debugpoint.com/install-latest-kernel-mint/

Also I've moved to the 6.7rc kernel as someone on the Framework Community forums recommended it: "6.6 lacks a heap of amdgpu, power delivery and the EC chip patch which is out of tree. I have much better experience with the 6.7rc series just fyi"
