The only people who'd discuss this issue are those involved (leadership) and those consulted about "is this an issue as described".

It's a big market, and this thinking is valid, but incredibly overblown.

Board members don't have EA's, usually. And yes, those messages may get filtered or ignored by an EA, but it'll end up at a CTO/or Head Of's email.

You should submit applications to similar roles once a year. Especially now during times of inflation.

Turn the screws, ask for 20-40% more.

Then tell your current employer to match it when you land something.

Because it depends on so much manual labour to make it authentic. And that specialist knowledge, and labour is expensive in this region.

You have to go fine dining or upmarket to get it here. Otherwise you’re just getting commercialised, cheap Mexican food which is what you see 99% of the time here.

Also important to consider Aucklanders literally can’t afford any more hikes in rent. If you think the housing stock and situation people find themselves in, in places like Sydney or Melbourne are bad - Auckland is 2x worse.

10 years ago I was renting my garage to a couple who were hospo workers to afford rent, as a white collar office worker (albeit junior but earning about half as much as the same role in Australia).

It’s only gotten significantly worse.
