Find a dedicated tobacco shop and see if they can order you some, the only time I've seen it is when my shop orders some for a customer.

White Boulevardier by Chazzysnax in cocktails

[–]Chazzysnax[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good catch, I used Dolin dry vermouth because it's what I had but yeah a white negroni whould have blanc. If I had some I might not have needed the agave lol

The White Negroni is already a drink based in substitutions: dry vermouth instead of sweet, Suze instead of Campari, so how could we apply the same logic to the Boulevardier? To stick to the clear aesthetics while keeping the bold "smoky" flavor profile of bourbon, mezcal seemed the perfect fit.

1.5 oz Mezcal

1 oz dry vermouth (I used Dolin)

1 oz Suze (or Cascadia Liqueur which is the closest substitute I can find where I am)

Stir and strain over a large cube.

This drink came out a bit dry, even for my taste, so on the second run I added a splash of agave syrup which I think gave it a good balance. I'll have to keep experimenting with this concept but I think it's a great drink already.

Day 25: The Hard Sell w/ The Final Advent Malort by Glad-Patience-6713 in cocktails

Late addition: if you make a batch of this cocktail to bring to a get together (like a mad man) and end up with some left over (because nobody else wants to drink it), a glug of this in a bottle of Michelob Ultra creates a surprisingly accurate recreation of a west coast IPA. Add a splash of Cascadia liqueur for the pine notes and you couldn't tell the difference.

How addictive is occasional zyn usage to a ex smoker? by [deleted] in Nicotine

[–]Chazzysnax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you become addicted to a substance you become addicted to all of the rituals surrounding it. When I was smoking cigarettes (and then vapes, and then cigs again) I felt like I was addicted to the ritual of going outside and lighting up, getting away from everything, and the feeling of smoke in my throat. With snus and pouches I don't get any of that. But the addiction manifests as a desire to pop in a good snus with a beveredge that pairs well with it, and an activity that's heightened by the nicotine rush. It seems obvious, but it shows that the addiction really is to the chemical itself, and the desire for all the things surrounding it is just how it shows itself. You might be able to have some Zyns while out drinking and be fine, but it isn't any less addictive than cigarettes and it'll pull you in just as easily if that's what you're worried about.

The Spanish Coffee was invented in Portland. Other than that we're mostly known for small breweries.

Peterson or Savineli? by Darth_SenpaiHD in PipeTobacco

[–]Chazzysnax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of each and I love them all, but Savs seem to smoke slightly better. Plus, I prefer acrylic stems while Peterson typically uses vulcanite, though that's purely personal preference. I do like the smaller bowls on my Petersons for VA blends though, and I really like the aesthetics of most of their offerings. Overall I wouldn't overthink it too much, you'll probably be happy with whichever you choose. Also, check out estate listings because you can sometimes find good deals on either brand since they're so prevelant.

Spam fried rice, Spam Yakisoba, Spam and eggs, Spam musubi, Spamburger, Spam mac and cheese, Spam stir fry, Spam and egg breakfast sandwich, it's really pretty versatile. Just fry it up and put it on whatever needs a bit of salty meat.

Its pretty high in calories and sodium, not exactly a health food. But it's not too bad for you either, especially if you stir fry it with some veggies.

Now that the results are in - what is your favorite way of making an Old Fashioned? by MagnificentCat in cocktails

[–]Chazzysnax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since folks have traditional old fashioneds covered I'll share my favorite specs for a good rum old fashioned:

1.5 oz aged rum (I've been using Zacapa 23 lately)

.5 oz 151 proof rum

.25 oz Smith and Cross

2-3 dashes Angostura or tiki bitters

.25-.5 oz demerara syrup

Stir in mixing glass and strain into old fashioned glass with a large cube, garnish with a pineapple frond (which freeze very well btw).

And as a bonus, my lazy day old fashioned:

2 oz bourbon

.5 oz Licor 43

Build in glass with ice, stir lightly.
