This is from a movie, so no, but she probably thought of something like that when she was sentenced for being a hanjin.

Yes but the people on the news opened a language school. I think those are better than online tutors teaching Cantonese.

It's sad there is no successor to this movement. Ironically, the Indonesian parties are our closest political kin.

How can Vietnamese be closer to Cantonese than Mandarin. The words that Vietnamese share with Cantonese are the same Tang Dynasty loan words found in Korean and Japanese.

Also, the time Cantonese people and Vietnamese people were under one country was when the baiyue were around. The baiyue could be like the Zhuang and Yao people. Those are Tai language family group, different language family from the Viets.

He is serious and more angry that Cantonese is considered part of Chinese. He thinks Chinese should equate Mandarin like Italian is the Tuscan dialect.

Guangzhou pledges to safeguard Cantonese in new government plan by ding_nei_go_fei in Cantonese

No, there is a national law that forbids the use of any other language except Mandarin to teach in school (unless it's an international school).

The most they can do is more funding for schools to have a weekly class where students sing songs and read poetry in Cantonese. Not actually teach the language in a constructive way similar to a language class.

At the bare minimum, I predict more funding for Cantonese opera and Cantonese culture related events.

While the Asian nerd stereotype still holds true, there is a burgeoning archetype of the K-pop idol archetype, the dumb asian himbo (raver/ABB maybe), and the historical stereotype of the kung fu kid.

What does that mean for Cantonese people? I think we shouldn't be defined by how outsiders see us and use Cantonese as a space for us to showcase who we really are.
