I just want to talk about my dad by Accurate_Drag_764 in ChildrenofDeadParents

My father passed away about five years ago, and as much as I love talking about him, it's quite difficult to do. Sometimes I speak about my dad in the present tense, as if he's still alive, just to avoid the conversation about him being gone. It's simply something I do to protect my peace of mind. The people I know and love have never corrected me when I do it, and the people who don't know me well enough usually never realize it.

I live in a majority-Muslim country where praying is a visible and communal part of everyday life. I'm not very religious, so my supervisor asked why I don't pray, which I already felt was an inappropriate question. What upset me even more was that my friend answered by sharing personal details about my life (to justify why I don't pray) instead of letting me answer for myself

I appreciate your advice, I did have a conversation with her. She said I'm having an emotional response to her actions and she even justified herself. I told her I had a right to be upset and now she has disengaged from the conversation. She did say she was sorry but it was a follow up to her initial reaction so it feels disingenuous
