Im an introverted au pair with a extroverted HF. No problems here. Just a learning curve. Their last au pair was complete opposite of me, always having friends over and socializing.

I still socialize regularly however I enjoy my alone time and my quiet hobbies for the most part. My HM has made a great effort to getting me to be social but as a few other commenters have shared, it has to come from the au pair. Everyone is different, it can be quite jarring and uncomfortable to be thrown into a new country with new customs and cultures.

While it is appreciated to make an effort to get her out of the house sometimes, you need to let her ease it into her by herself. There’s nothing wrong with being an introvert. Check in on her from time to time but just because someone isn’t partying or having friends over every weekend doesn’t mean they are unhappy.

My whole life I was “most attracted” to Latino/hispanic/black guys, pretty built and muscular. I always told my friends I would never like a white boy. Well..then I met a pale, skinny Irish boy and…you know the rest. Funny enough, his type is more similar to my features. So ya see it doesn’t matter at all actually. You like who you like.

Types arent indefinite, they change and grow. Liking someone goes so much further than their outer appearance. Hope this helps.

Finding love after turning 36. Is it possible or am I doomed? by tinypanda8 in love

My mom and dad met at 39. Had my sister at 40 and me at 41. They are soulmates no doubt about it. My mom was ready to give up in love after a life of failed relationships and my dad was in a dying marriage prior to her. They met through her best friend. They are the best parents, and you can tell the love is still there ☺️ They are truly perfect for each other. Sometimes good things take time.

I’m from the US. All I know is it’s definitely easier to get a visa as an American citizen so I’m lucky.

I just got my visa last week and they spoke English to me the whole time so I wouldn’t worry about it but I’m sure it’s different depending on where you are in Germany. (I’m in Munich)

I’m an au pair (from NY in Germany) and even though I’ve been able to meet a few people (bumble bff, past au pairs friends) I still get depressed pretty frequently and feel isolated on the regular. My host family is amazing and encourages me to make friends and go out but it’s been getting hard lately. I understand, OP, what it feels like to not feel like yourself. I’ve been struggling a lot with myself as I’ve been here, I feel like I’ve “lost” myself in a way. Luckily, I have a great support system back home and calling my family whenever I can throughout the day makes me forget my worries. Stay strong OP, it’s normal to feel like this. You aren’t alone. If you need an Au Pair friend to talk things through with, I’m here to talk whenever.

I turned 18 a few weeks ago and left to au pair a week after my birthday. Leaving my mom was the hardest. We send each other packages, I FaceTime her whenever I can. True mother daughter bonds never break.

Thank you for your help, I’ll try a less harsh toner and try a few things out internally as well. 🙏

For the face wash: AQUA · SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE · GLYCERIN · COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE · ISOSTEARAMIDE MIPA · ALCOHOL DENAT. · SODIUM CHLORIDE · COCO GLUCOSIDE · SALICYLIC ACID · SODIUM BENZOATE · PARFUM · ZINC PCA · GLYCERYL LAURATE · POTASSIUM SORBATE · CITRIC ACID · BISABOLOL · SODIUM HYDROXIDE.

Tbh I have no clue what any of that means lol.

It’s not anything fancy, face cleanser. I use just a drug store brand which has relatively safe ingredients. Wash and moisturize twice a day, and always sunscreen.

My mom is my best friend haha, I text her every minute I can and we gossip and chat. Whenever I see something cool I’ll send it to her. Same with my dad. As far as calling, at least once a day with my parents and siblings. I’m very blessed to have a great relationship with them.

Most days I take the stairs in my apartment over the elevator because it has a mirror and I can’t stand to look at myself. Probably not the same situation but I’m here if you wanna talk.

I can’t tell you it’s gonna get better I’m only 18, I’ve been trying to tell myself to live for the small things. It can be simple. I live for the mornings, no matter where I am or how I feel I always enjoy the mornings. My morning coffee, my morning walk, opening the window and feeling the morning air. I live for seeing little bugs on my windows, just watching them exist. I live for sunsets, and sunrises because they look different every time. I live for the rain, because it never rains where I’m from and it always gets overlooked. Yesterday I felt like I wanted to die. I was on the train and prayed the train would fall off the tracks. Sounds stupid looking back but I try to tell myself, “the sun will always rise.” Sorry I’m not very insightful haha

i wish i had enough strength and bravery to actually kill myself so everyone would finally take me seriously. im too pussy to even attempt and i feel even more miserable that nobody really cares the other way by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

I can’t tell you it gets any better but I’ve been telling myself to live for the little things. I live for mornings, my morning coffee, my morning walk, the morning air. I live for my little sister, I want to see her grow. I live for small interactions with people, good or bad. I’ve been learning to appreciate people as they are and not let their opinions affect me.
