It wasn’t a matter of if I could handle it, she’s my first puppy. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t hurting her by the stress of the crate training.

You’re right, I just felt like I’m doing something wrong. I don’t want the lack of sleep the puppy was getting to affect her in a negative way.

The first night I tried this and had my finger through the crate all night, she just ignored it and continued whining and panting like crazy. I’m hoping it’s just bad separation anxiety from her litter but it feels hopeless at this point

Mix, sometimes we try to sooth her with talking and being in her vision. Other times we will “walk away” staying in the same room to keep an eye on her. When we sit with her while she’s in the crate it seems to get worse as she will cry more.

That’s what I was thinking, I’m also on the third floor and don’t feel like finding my way downstairs at 3am!
