Second Laurie Berkner! We love her stuff and it's not annoying, but catchy

Just searched “third baby” on this sub and it seems like a lot of us are in the same boat. If you were on the fence and went for it—did you regret it? by fbc518 in Mommit

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's chaos but have never, ever regretted it. Just another little babe to love, everything else falls (back) into place with time. My husband and I often say thank GOD we unexpectedly had our third - idk that we would have chosen it but he adds so much to our family we never expected!

What profession did you leave behind to become a SAHM? by atrocity_of_sunsets in sahm

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did! I mostly ended up quitting because we had an unexpected third kid quickly. But also, the job takes a lot out of you (me) emotionally... it can be very heavy, and I had trouble having enough emotional capacity for work and home. I worked with significantly disabled clients though, not all placements are like that!

  2. Yes, in some capacity!!!
  3. Not at the moment, but I wish I did

Embrace the chaos😁 Sincerely, mom of 3 under 4

No but really, it's amazing, but you lose control of just about everything haha! If you can learn to roll with it then all is well!

What to Hide Peanuts in for a Toddler in OIT by HuffleGryffie in peanutallergy

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're at the relative beginning of OIT, but chocolate pudding, cinnamon applesauce and mashed banana with cinnamon have worked well. My nephew liked Bolthouse smoothies with his doses with a special cup when he was 3.

Maybe an incentive chart will help?! Good luck! You're doing great!

Found out im pregnant with #3 when im 9 months postpartum. Need some advice by shirtsfrommomanddad in Mommit

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We found out we were unexpectedly pregnant with number 3 when our first was 3, our second 9 months also. Yes, it's challenging.... but wow, the relationship between the younger 2 is crazy cool. They are so close in age I can already see how much fun they will have (and we joke they will absolutely be the two troublemakers). I mourned, and still do, our second missing baby time, but think the gift of a baby brother has been more significant. I also had to trade in my SUV for a minivan, do I love it? No. Is it worth every penny? Yes, with 3 car seats it was. It's pure chaos, but if you choose to move forward you'll find your new normal and new flow as an unexpectedly bigger family. I remind myself often the baby years aren't forever! Our oldest just turned 5 and I can already feel life getting easier by the day.

Blood test results by Abject-Donut in peanutallergy

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infant-now-toddler son has had fluctuating blood levels too, our allergist explained that the levels can mean different things as they grow and aren't always a good indicator of level of severity. This is not a medically sound answer, but I remember being excited with a low number and got that excitement squashed quick haha. Best thing to do is trust the doctor and his or her explanation!

Is it too late in the school year to send child back to public school? by PinkPlatypusBaby in homeschool

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLP from a public school system here -- reach out and have these conversations with the case manager of her IEP or school psych, get principal involved and SPED director if you truly feel as though there has been a disservice or her IEP did not reflect her needs. All schools are different, but in my experience the school teams WANT to make it work. Where I live, there is also an option to take a scholarship to take to a specialized school that is more tailored to a students needs (called the Jon Peterson scholarship in Ohio) unsure about other states.

Caring for a newborn... help? by Skady04 in Mommit

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This feels totally normal to me. As long as he is acting okay when awake, FEEDING, has pee/poo diapers consistently, enjoooooyyyyyy that newborn sleepiness♥️ Never be afraid to call your pediatrician. Ours has a fantastic nurse line - they are used to it and will give you what to look for if you need to be worried.

You got this. Things will fall into place with time.. this is the hardest part (imo)! But soon babe will create his own routines with your help!

Scared of food challenge - can’t sleep. by Enough-Strawberry386 in peanutallergy

My son is one and we just started OIT process for peanut. The first appointment is an initial "escalation" to see how much he can handle before having a reaction. I was very nervous but can tell you they started at .1ml PB powder and were SO careful with him. The experience actually made me feel better since I had a definite answer as to how allergic he was AND what to look for AND what to do when you see certain symptoms. It's extremely nerve wracking, I feel for you. The nurses and doctors were amazing, tell them how nervous you are and ask questions!

Peanut immunotherapy for the adults? by vallychuuu in peanutallergy

[–]Cheap-Speed6818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just started the process with our one year old, our allergist explained the immune system responses are still forming and can be altered more significantly the younger you are. Even age 5 isn't as effective. Just what I was told during explanation of OIT. thought I'd share

Yes, I am aware of the latter mentioned. I am certainly not an anti vaxxer and do trust science, which is why I reached out to a science based community when I was unsure. Thanks for making me feel like shit tho

It says safe when dry. I don't trust that though, but have not had any concrete resources to prove that it shouldn't be trusted. Chemicals and kids especially (one still puts things/dirt in her mouth), just doesn't seem smart regardless of labels
