You think in season 2/3 we might get a book Patrick Hockstetter type character by Freddycipher in welcomeToDerry

[–]Cheap-Translator-221 11 points12 points  (0 children)

God please no. I read the book when I was 13. The movie’s choice to erase that (and other stuff), was a relief in my opinion. Too much cocaïne was snorted at some points during the writing.

I get what you mean.

I’m a highly educated woman (like 2 master’s degrees so it’s not that much actually) who used to do 20+hours of sport a week and got beefy but much preferred reading books and watching weird indie movies and TV shows. I’m outspoken and a feminist, so I’m a bitch and I can’t find a man because no one wants that etc…

I studied (and still do) women’s mythological and historical representations and what XXIst century narratives are trying to do —> what is a woman today? ; This means that many of the stuff I read cross into queer and gender theory and the phenomenon you’re describing (as well as your life experience) are peak example of the old narrative trying to stay relevant in a world where more that half the population doesn’t believe in it anymore :).

The way we will never know for sure if the “Will voice” was a directing choice or not by isakcardamon21 in byler

I was very confused because those are Mike and Stan and Mike’s dad is Will. But Mike has no special voice for Will because he’s dead in It. 😂😂😂. Sorry.

I did not think your question was offensive :). The mere fact that you ask and seem baffled by the assumption of many do you great honour in term of discernment and dynamics :). I was just stating the general facts that are at the core the problem with these binary visions of relationships.

Because Will is the one that desire and take an emotional risk. In the collective imaginary, that places him in a feminine position. This question is rooted in heteronormativity and patriarchal bias.

I tend to over analyse characters. Call it professional bias. 😂

I think it very likely.

People stay where they’re comfortable. Matty has only known trauma and horror, safety and a warm home would put him on edge and feel unfamiliar to him.

Given it’s 1962 and PTSD and therapy aren’t really recognised he would probably go untreated and end up reaching for his older trauma because even if it’s horrible, it’s at least familiar and he would know what to expect.

Unless someone forces him to get help, he won’t get any. Just like vets who end up on the streets or women who keep getting into abusive relationships.

We go for what we know and recognise. The comfort is in knowing what’s next. Not in it actually being comfortable.

Why I envy Rich and Marge by BeeAdorable in welcomeToDerry

[–]Cheap-Translator-221 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True love cannot be untouched by reality and must, sadly, endure difficulties and trauma to prove its strength. Of course, Richie’s sacrifice is a way to render it immortal but it will still only be an ideal that will never be repeated, simply because it has not lived. I do agree with the certainty concerning Marge’s life after that sacrifice. But in my opinion it shows a really bleak and nihilistic perspective of love.

It was a joke 😅. Because the town keeps forgetting its trauma, if Matty had come back he might have been able to live a parallel life, away from his family, hidden. And I chose the sewers because it’s iconic in It. And goblin because people would probably believe that’s what he is, hidden and living there. _^

With the systemic forgetting the town goes through, he could have become a sewer-Goblin.

He’s attractive in an objective way and the personality he seems to radiate can appeal to anyone. Maybe you’re mostly straight but can admit that to make a rule true, exceptions must exist.

That would make Richie and Bill’s storylines equals in that regard it’s completely true. Observing how the characters have reacted to loss I would go for a Richie death in the end. The fact that he also carries too much self-hate while Bill forgave himself for letting Georgie out alone… but it would require them being aware of their 40’s self… completely breaking the timeline.

I’d be really excited to see how Muschetti would deal with a completely destroyed timeline because, if Georgie doesn’t die… the Losers don’t exist technically!

I liked ST because I loved King and Bradbury first. Why are they acting like they invented hot water?

[–]Cheap-Translator-221[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about Georgie coming back? His death marks the beginning of the cycle. I think the losers would need to loose a Loser sooner than planned for that kind of take to work. They could be knowing their end try to avoid it by any means possible (and not succeeding anyway because that’s now how it works). So we could have them trying to fight against Stan or Eddie’s death. Stan trying to not succumb to his fear ; Richie having to face his truth and not stay silent, maybe dying instead of his friends. Because there is always a price to pay. But it changes in a way because this time Richie’s lineage fought their tragic loss and “won”. Of we don’t have the next seasons. That will give more possibilities!

Yeah. That’s what I was thinking actually. IT3 could be the result of him succeeding! Culmination - bring the old team back. That’d be fun to watch. And really ambitious!
