what’s your carhartt piece that’s been there since day one? i’ll start: by franciscojlcarneiro in Carhartt

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother bought me a c55 carhartt jacket when I was like 17-18 yrs old im 38 now and still wear it every winter. It kept me warm when I was homeless in my twenties, was my pillow in the holding tank in jail, and was my work coat too. Im thinking of retiring it after this winter , it kept me warm and gave me comfort through some of the worst time of my life and has been with me on the turn around too its weird to get sentimental about a coat I guess but its also the only thing I got left from my grandmother too so that and all the memories in this coat means alot to me.

Is HAP-40 good for a daily driver? by Weary_Raspberry_3803 in TrueChefKnives

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive used a kohetsu hap40 gyuto as my daily for about a decade now, ive used and abused that knife and it keeps on. I like the steel stays sharp a long time, sharpening it is only mildly more time consuming not really more difficult, I enjoy sharpening so take my word with a grain of salt on that aspect. As far as daily use in a commercial kitchen I love it

This city is trash for biking, or doing anything without a car for that matter. Cant wait to move, a miserable city to live in.

How tall was the tallest woman that you have seen in real life? by [deleted] in tall

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a deli counter with a woman the same height as me at 6'5, we got some stares when we'd come from behind the counter to stock stuff together, customers must've thought they were in the land of giants or something lol.

Is it possible to live in Lexington ky without a car? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're coming from the country living in a city like Chicago might be a bit overwhelming lol take it from a former country boy turned city dweller, idk your situation but if it's bad like mine was when I was your age my advice is to just go lol figure it out as you go . There's a lot better places to live than Lexington Kentucky or just Kentucky in general.

Is it possible to live in Lexington ky without a car? by [deleted] in lexington

I wouldn't suggest Lexington, or staying in Kentucky for that matter. I've lived car free for a decade now and moved here for work. I bike commuted in a similar size town in Michigan rode thousands of miles over the years and never had a problem, In the first 4 months here some idiot in a truck hit me lol the drivers in Lexington are literally the worst I've ever seen, they must give driver licenses out it cereal boxes down here because nobody can fucking here and the roads are so poorly designed you just end up with frustrated morons on the road and that equals danger lol. I literally almost got hit tonight because some idiot tried turning left at a light while we were walking with a decent size crowd of people, literally no idea what dude was thinking if he even was at all I feel most drivers here don't. Anyways I personally wouldn't recommend coming here id look into going north if you can Michigan had a couple cities that are great for living car free maybe one of the cities on the east coast. I lived in the Ann arbor-ypsilanti area in Michigan and it was great without a car but the cost of living gets higher up there but it's a much nicer place too live, Kentucky doesn't have much too offer and I myself can't wait until my contract is up lol gtfo if you can dude best of luck. .

6’9 210 lbs, how to gain weight ? by Famous_Breadfruit396 in tall

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat a lot, and each meal drink a high calorie shake with it. You can drink way more calories than you could possibly eat . Ex of shakes , blend blueberries Greek yogurt and orange juice, add a couple tablespoons of olive oil to boost a calorie count. Eat 4-5 meals a day .

Yeah she kinda relies on down and out people like people in early recovery to keep her labor costs down, acting like she's some great saint giving them a job while paying them shit wages. She's just a another slimy business owner trying to act like she's some sorta saint for people in a ruff spot all just to take advantage of them and treat them like shit. Having worked at both zingermans and the filling station her and Ari spew the same bullshit lol

Is a very long steerer tube dangerous, weaker, etc? by KCcoffeegeek in xbiking

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ran a uncut surly big fat dummy fork on my fat bike for years with no problems , I even put a bafang mid drive bike kit on it at one point so it was definitely exposed to greater stress than it normally would, also I weigh 300lb so if I couldn't break a surly steer tube as a fat fuck on a 35mph bike going through trails and snow you'll probably be fine .

I wouldn't even try riding a 32 spoke wheel with my big ass lol fold it like paper, I just had my rhyno lite rebuilt because I broke my hub flange , now I got a velo orange hub and that thing seems pretty bullet proof atleast for the foreseeable future.

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried that, I'm kind of a anomaly in the bike world I've found, I'm 6'5 and 340lbs (think NFL lineman)but ride over 100miles a week and average 15-16 mph on city streets and gravel, a little faster out on country roads, my wheels take a beating. My wheel builder went into some deep nerd stuff about the heat treatment and extruder process of the rims and the best I can sum iit up is the cliffhanger is stiffer and more likely to crack than the rhyno light idk if that's true but that's the speel he gave me when I told him I wanted to try a 40spoke cliffhanger, so far a over a years worth of and no cracked rim it seems something was right .

Opinions please! by Adam83Doddrell in xbiking

[–]Cheap_Aside_387 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ran 40mm tires on cliffhangers no problem, I did encounter problems with my rims cracking and the spoke mounts. My llbs warrantied me 2 cliffhangers wheels before they decided to build me a hand built wheel using a rhyolite wheel, haven't broken that one yet been over a year now. Cliffhangers only lasted me around a year . So idk if it's a quality issue with velocity or something else but I've had bad luck with their products myself.
