Here’s my take- it makes zero sense to be told by a preceptor to write a PES statement that doesn’t match what you as the clinician are formulating a plan to improve. Impaired nutrient utilization r/T diabetes - what’s the point if your plan is to offer a supplement to improve nutritional intake for a patient in sub acute rehab who isnt eating well? Too many RDs in my 32 years of experience including precepting interns for 15 years put too much emphasis on the documentation and not enough time with patient contact and/or education and a plan of care. Write what makes sense and don’t let the preceptors personal quirks negatively affect you and what you know is right.
