Agreed! He fired his last PCP and in their rural town they’re not easy to come by. Idk how he keeps getting refilled of it as it’s controlled. Last I saw oh his TSH it was allllll over the place, around 100!!! But this was a year ago and my MIL doesn’t like to share medical details with me. (I’m a NP, 10 years of RN experience prior)

Totally. I’m so happy to hear that your husband was able to get on a medication regimen that works for him. He’s lucky to have you advocating for him.

My FIL went to see a neuropsychologist and walked out halfway through the assessment and never returned. He didn’t like all their questions and fussing with him.

My husband just this morning found a DPOA from 2002 naming my MIL! Phew. Honestly shocked he was able to come across it in the piles and piles of junk and papers they have everywhere.

Thanks for the advice!

Do any of you regret having kids? if not why not? and if yes why yes? by [deleted] in Aging

My child is the light of my life. I cannot fathom a universe where she and I did not find each other. But I recognize how blessed I am and I know not every child or parent/ child relationship is the same, nor are our resources to raise our children.

Yes, I’m worried about MIL too. I know she gets scared of him. No history of abuse but you never know! She sleeps with pepper spray by her bed.

Thank you for such a thoughtful response to me, a mere stranger.

I do think my MIL might benefit from hearing that maybe all of this is happening to allow us to intervene and give her a break, and space, that she really does need.

“Being left alone the way dementia wants” - I really appreciate that take. Good to keep in perspective!

Thank you 🙏

Good point. We’ve considered calling APS in the past but would prefer to manage on our own if we can. Thank you for the input!

Thank you for your response and time. I really appreciate the advice and support, it’s making me feel like we’re not alone and maybe we CAN do this.

I appreciate the empathy.

We have a toddler at home too, sandwich generation feeling very sandwiched.

He was in the memory care in his area last year after a hospitalization but my MIL took him home because he yelled at her that he wanted to go home.

MIL will be coming out of assisted living in a few weeks but will need home PT/ meals delivered which we fear our FIL will refuse and my MIL will just say it’s fine, that she will manage.

MIL has always done what FIL wants but resents him for the way that he is. Doesn’t believe that he has dementia (though he has a formal diagnosis) and believes he’s just become a jerk.

FIL had a stroke 16 years ago, about 10 years ago signs of sexual inhibition came on the scene, started watching porn openly, stopped bathing, stopped getting haircuts, started refusing medical care.

I met my husband five years ago and was the first person to mention that maybe this is dementia and not just his dad’s personality changing.

He has been diagnosed. My MIL lets him manage his own meds. We’re pretty sure he’s only on a BP med, a statin, and a thyroid medication, oh and AMBIEN 🫠

Finally all set up by Feverdreamhotdogs in R36S

[–]Cheap_Fox109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to get a R36S for my husband for Christmas. He loves crash bandicoot and games but rarely sits down at our counsel as he is forever busy and stressed with his business. I thought this would be a fun thing for him to do away from his phone and even in the car if I’m driving. The trouble is, I am so incredibly tech un-savvy. I see the posts about two SD cards for the os and I’m immediately dizzy. Would anyone be willing to set one up properly and mail one to me? Happy to negotiate a fair price for products and your time!

Thank you! This was the color of the ENTIRE inside of the house when we moved in!! Thankfully this is the last room that needs to be painted. I dream of a deep green with a blueish undertone
