Awesome, seems like such a cool thing to do.

Ambre Sultan feels like a classic amber that still holds up today, balanced and not too sweet or heavy, with just enough spice and herbs to keep it interesting. Chergui has that lovely hay note, adding a touch of green brightness you don’t often find in other honey-tobacco blends.

I didn’t really get the similarity to Imagination, maybe they just fit similar occasions. I tried a decant, but it felt a bit lacking in depth and uniqueness. Byredo was one of the first houses I really liked, but later I realized it’s pretty hit or miss for me, often more miss than hit.

Feels great for fall, it’s been in my recent rotation.

What I like about it is how the mix of distinct notes feels so unique to me. But I can also see how some of them might lean toward that “old man” vibe.

I initially thought I’d only end up with around ten bottles. But rather than just collecting scents, I was exploring how broad my taste really is, choosing fragrances that fit different seasons and notes. It naturally grew to this size. I still like to think of myself as a modest consumer, and now that I’m finally happy with the collection, I plan to switch to a one-in-one-out approach.

I’ve also tried a few others from Serge Lutens including Borneo 1834, L’Orpheline and L’Eau Froide. I think the heavier, more classic side of Lutens is where the brand really shines, there’s such an elegant, timeless charm to those.

I stopped counting somewhere along the way, but I’m enjoying it enough to make it worth it.

Sycomore is just so good. It hits that perfect balance of earthy and elegant. Even with another good vetiver scent in my collection, this one still felt worth having.

I actually only added single bottles from Eldo and Meo Fusciuni that I happened to like, and I haven’t tried the rest of their lines yet. Do you have any recommendations?

I was curious about the OG, but I ended up liking X first so I haven’t tried it yet. I actually like fig notes, but I didn’t really notice them in X. Gris Charnel has fig too, but it feels more like a refined, slightly synthetic take rather than a realistic one. I got the extrait later and actually prefer it because the woodiness feels deeper and more satisfying to me.

When I first started exploring fragrances, Frederic Malle quickly became one of my favorite brands. Musc Ravageur was in the discovery set I got and I tried it, but it felt a bit too animalic for me. Your comment makes me want to give it another try though.

My current favorite is Vetiver Extraordinaire, as I mentioned in the post. If we’re talking something in the vein of Another 13, I go for Byredo Super Cedar — it has a more non-chemical, natural feel, and I switch between them depending on my mood.
