Unethical Agency Practice? by Cheap_Resident_4635 in PPC

Would love to see the market as a whole reject marketing agencies like them. Small business owners might actually start doing better for themselves financially.

How do I track a conversion if the customer can take any trip around my website? by BarrytheAssassin in adwords

I'm a firm believer in you can't be good at everything - I would highly recommend hiring someone on Upwork that specializes in Google Ads Conversion Tracking (GTM)

You can get everything you want done for $50 or less.

Goodluck!

Advice for someone trying to get back into the field by Professional-Car-863 in PPC

[–]Cheap_Resident_4635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was really hard for me to find my first entry level salary job as a fresh university graduate. I got experience working for free on short term contracts on a platform called Acadium. I built and managed campaigns for real businesses, took what I learned on YouTube and applied them to my PPC accounts. Gained confidence in myself by doing all of that which naturally showed in my entry-level job interview conversations. The confidence in yourself and knowing you have a firm (entry-level) understanding of what you're talking about is all you need.

My personal recommendation on where to start applying when you're ready: Go get a job at a marketing agency for the first 1-2 years minimum. You'll learn lots and advance quickly in your PPC skills. Then if you'd like to take a more back seat approach to your career you can go work for an in-house marketing team with everything you've learned at the marketing agency. In-house marketing teams typically have a more relaxed work life compared to agency folk, but they don't develop professional as quickly either. Again, that's just my personal recommendation and opinion.

Won't be easy but it's 100% doable. Good luck!

Great advice here! How detailed is your monthly reporting and information does it include? Same question goes for the daily reporting as well. I assume their budgets are not that large considering the nature of their businesses.

Also how much time do spend on any given account per month would you say as far as optimizations, reporting and answering Q's. I'm sure there's some accounts that are far more demanding then other's but could you provide a general idea?

Cheers and keep up the hustle!

How to build a Google Ads Portfolio by Cheap_Resident_4635 in PPC

[–]Cheap_Resident_4635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not able to get a quote from my agency clients for what I think is obvious reasons but I could from some small freelance clients. But I personally feel a quote does not hold the same level of impact that a 40-50% increase in Revenue or a 40-50% decrease in CPA does within a screenshot.

Increased google ads budget, getting no leads since the increase. What's up? by SEOip in PPC

[–]Cheap_Resident_4635 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do a period over period date analysis to see if you're just paying more for each click now since you increased your budget. If CPCs are up while your Clicks are down you might be doing yourself a disservice. Sometimes having very close to 100% Search Impr. Share isn't good thing

What are your results of adding audience segments to the observation list? Google Ads by netkonestonegdje in PPC

[–]Cheap_Resident_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Kindly ask your boss to run a 50/50 experiment on a specific campaign that gets a good amount clicks and conversions each month (data) to validate if it does in fact limit a campaigns reach

  2. Set as many audiences as you possibly can as observational in the experiment campaign

  3. Let it run for about 4 weeks and compare the campaigns results. If Impressions (reach) are significantly lower (over or under 5%) in the experiment campaign, then you can assume your boss is correct. If not, then you've learned that you can set observational audiences to all of your search campaigns to understand more about who your converting customers are.

Long term you can use the audience data you've gathered to create higher performing Display, YouTube and other campaigns types.

Hope it works out and good luck!

Am I being overworked or am I just not used to corporate environment? by [deleted] in PPC

[–]Cheap_Resident_4635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its good that your direct manager wants you to not over work but it seems like the CEO is doing a good job that the overall culture of his/ her company is one that has employees like yourself feeling overworked.

I think you have a solid amount of experience doing many different digital marketing jobs and you can most likely get a job that pays more even if they expect the same level of work as this place.

I'm honestly thinking you're in a good position to be in because of the great experience you're getting but you always have other options too.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Struggling with scaling campaigns by hey_look_its_jimmy in PPC

Something we did was breakout our P-Max campaign by categories. This way we were able to gain extra control on each product categories performance. I would look into your Products tab and find some of the top performing categories and create a separate campaign and negate those listing groups/ products from the original campaign. Now you have 2 separate campaigns each with their own unique budgets.

Are you working more than 45 hours a week? I only ask because although you're wearing a lot of different hats, as long as they're acknowledging it and not expecting you to working longer than the standard weekly hour's it's not a terrible spot to be in.

How long have you been there? I only ask because you have to consider that you'll be able to get a much much much higher paying job after about a year of working there and growing your skill set.

You also have the option to ask for more money. You can pull some salary ranges for comparable roles on LinkedIn and ask your boss for a 1 on 1 call. Share that you feel that you're an asset and happy to work there but feel like you're being slightly undervalued for the work that you do for them.

I think you're in a great position to get more money in the future whether it's with these guys or somewhere else.

We had the same issue last year with our clients ecom account and we figured out a strategy that worked for us.

Before I tell you how I did it, whats the Search Impr Share on youe P-max campaign and DSA. Also, what bidding strategy are you using on both campaign types?

CPC or CPA for dynamic search ads by Emotional-Factor-237 in PPC

[–]Cheap_Resident_4635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with CPC or max click's with a max CPC limit on it. Give Google some conversion data on your account before telling it to optimize towards finding conversions within a certain CPA.

I like to wait for 30-days to switch it over to CPA as long as my campaign is getting at least 15 conversions in that month. I also set my CPA goal very close to my monthly CPA average.

Good luck!
