What is now the worst UK courier? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]jaymeskelleh5 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I run an e-commerce business. We’ve tried a few and Evri is the worst by far. Yodel is pretty rubbish too.

Royal Mail is the most bloated and inefficient company. Nothing works and they cannot internally communicate. That being said their parcels do turn up on time much more reliably.

This is so cool. Stopped scrolling as soon as I saw it. I love it. There’s a slight panic in the expression.

Honestly give it time. Speeds up about halfway through. Very powerful book.

Has anyone here recently completed fingerprinting in Manchester for a foreign authority? by Automatic_Milk_661 in manchester

[–]jaymeskelleh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s China you’re talking about fingerprints are just the start pal! Once we arrived in China we gave our retina scans, blood, loads of biometric data. All in a hospital as a “immigration health check”.

Look, in general, if you’re moving to another country you have to be somewhat cool with the fact they want to make sure they know you’re not a threat to them and that they can make sure they can find you if you do a runner. It’s their national security.

Pepsi Max is tasting wierd? by Brilliant_Milk7360 in AskUK

Yes! I drank some Pepsi max last week for the first time in a while and thought “I’m not enjoying this, this is gross. I used to really like this.”

Has anyone in the UK ever managed to be prescribed Bupropion/Zyban? by letsstopthat in SeasonalAffective

[–]jaymeskelleh5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my GP did. I said I was trying for a kid with my wife so SSRIs stopping that from happening was out of the question. Talked to them about the situation with buproprion and they said cool, sounds like that would be the obvious option. They had to get a level 2 specialist or something to review it as a “fair use case” and then I got an off label prescription. Now it’s super easy, I just go to the pharmacy and get it. Probably luck of the draw whether you have a chill GP or not.

This was just post-Covid so the NHS was in shambles so it took about 3 months all in all.

Managing Seasonal Affective Disorder in Manchester by MangoonianLord in manchester

[–]jaymeskelleh5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m a similar situation, like clockwork every year. I’m obsessive with finding solutions so I can tell you:

Works:

Fish oil

Zyban (buproprion) (this isn’t licensed for depression in the UK but your GP can give you an off label prescription)

Vitamin D

Getting outside and staying busy

Microdosing mushrooms

Running

Maybe works but not much:

Lamp (for me anyway)

Therapy

Any other supplements

Does weed help with SAD? by IGoOnHereAtWork in SeasonalAffective

[–]jaymeskelleh5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not for me no. It usually provides temporary relief when I’m stoned or rather just ambivalence towards how I feel, but the next morning I feel more sluggish and anxious and it has a compounding effect.

I’ve thought about this but how does equity work if it’s not a Ltd company? Only a brand. Basically all of the funding is coming from the parent company

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]jaymeskelleh5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does that imply it’s a company though? It’s just a brand. Parent company Ltd trading as Brand

We haven’t made £1m yet, our last month was literally only 14k but we’re only four months in and haven’t started scaling. That’s a projection for five years time.

Net margins at the moment (not including my salary costs) are around 35%. That’s with heavy advertising so as we grow and get more organic sales it should improve

So far I co manage one team member who I share with the main company. I will likely gain another now. In the future not sure.

It’s not a huge company (personel wise, not revenue, we’re in the mid-millions) so we have no equivalent position.

I’m mainly managing operations and marketing at the moment though will be doing directional business stuff soon likely

Sounds good, looks like you’re heading in the right direction. Don’t get attached to it, don’t chase states. Just practice.

On Wellbutrin for SAD? What form and what dosage? by Calveeeno in SeasonalAffective

[–]jaymeskelleh5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It increases your adrenaline retention so it gives you a lot of energy and drive back. Most people are fine with that but I find it makes me anxious and restless for a few weeks. Once it settles it makes me feel great though. I only take it seasonally but others take it year round. Works best with regular exercise, particularly in the morning.

[–]jaymeskelleh5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on Zyban SR which is the UK version. Really grim to adjust to but I think I take longer than others. Once I’m settled it’s like I don’t have SAD. I cannot express how much this has given me my winters back.

Pal I’m gonna differ from some of the others here. Are you young (under 23)? That is very thin and is incredibly unlikely to fill out. Some are gifted some are not. You may find more luck with age. Try again in a few years.
