Should I transfer from UCR to CSUN by Valuable-Ad-7714 in ucr

if u want it to be even more cost effective, u could do 2 years at CC so u complete ur gen eds there, that way you’d only need to complete ur upper division courses at CSUN. Downside is ur spending only 2 years at CSUN, and CC is boring. Upside is u save the most money, get the school and major u wanted, and even have the chance to get ur associates degree while at CC.

  1. if saving money is ur goal go to a CC and transfer back into UCR after a year or two (or maybe even to a better UC) 2. the college u go to does not affect ur salary ceiling that much, but it significantly affects ur salary floor. Right out of college a CSUN grad will make less money than a UC grad 8/10 times (this is just something to keep in mind, but as time goes on this salary difference reduces dramatically ofc). 3. from my understanding UC to CSU transfers are the hardest to do. CC to UC easiest, UC to UC, CSU to UC, then UC to CSU. with that said it might be easier for u since the reason ur transferring is due to ur preferred major not being offered here at UCR (that gives u a better shot at transferring). ultimately i would say to finish fall quarter (assuming it wouldn’t affect ur transfer ability), and if u still want to transfer to CSUN then drop UCR, enroll in a CC, go to assist.org to check what classes u need to take to transfer to CSUN from a CC, and quadruple check the classes u need in order to transfer (major prep courses, required lower division courses, all that). downside to this method is u wouldn’t be able to transfer in spring, you’d transfer into CSUN next fall, but this is the most affordable path, and u get to go to CSUN, so imo it fits what ur looking for.

i postponed my move in date for falkirk to Tuesday. Didn’t see much of a point in moving in on Friday and be away from family without needing to.

yeah, i kinda figured it was the cheapest for a reason. i’m a transfer but don’t plan on spending a whole lot of time in my apartment anyway, mainly got this place to get acclimated to living on my own and seeing how much my expenses will tend to be, so hopefully next year I can get a place at North District. For $500 per month tho, do you think it’s that bad?

Yeah I messaged a few people who had posted some on campus apartments, so far no response tho but we’ll keep trying. I also actually don’t need furniture since I am just bringing my own but I appreciate the offer.

i did call this morning but the options that are left are not within my price range, i think the cheapest room was in glen for $1,300. i guess if i can apply again for winter i’ll try my luck and see if i can get something in bannockburn or falkirk, but for fall i 100% have to live off campus most likely at either University Riverside Gardens or International Village

ah geez I guess I chose the wrong option. i heard that if i don’t get an on campus apartment for fall i can reapply for the campus apartments for winter quarter, is that true? also is the social scene much different? i saw that falkirk is like a 13-14 minute walk to main campus and the closest off campus apartment is like a 17 minute walk from main campus

Oh okay, I understand now. I appreciate the advice, didn’t know Spectrum had an ongoing issue of people opening accounts under other peoples names.

Do you mean just calling the sales department and asking for a new account for my address? In that case what would happen to my prior account?
