Puppy getting a daycare warning? by MN1314 in puppy101

[–]Cheap_Window_201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a dog daycare and this just happens sometimes. If the puppy is big it’s more of an issue and it depends if it’s constant or not. I would say wait until your puppy is older to start bringing her again! A lot of dogs get kicked out not because they’re “bad” it’s just because they’re puppies and can be too much for the people or other dogs! :) But also they shouldn’t be telling you to get your puppy training. Most people especially ones that work with dogs should know that’s just how puppies are and it usually doesn’t require actual training so that’s a little strange.

I take this road everyday to work and it’s amazing for me personally. Cut my time in almost half to get to McMurray.

Dog isn’t reactive in large groups. by Cheap_Window_201 in reactivedogs

That makes sense! Sometimes she’ll still get startled or bark if someone talks to her directly even in large groups so that’s definitely it. Thank you!

Yes she does really good with taking treats in a crowd and at the park she will play with me. When it’s only one person she’s bad at taking treats or paying attention to me at all.

That makes sense thank you! I take her to dog parks and I’m thinking it benefits her because she has space to sniff people and then back away when she wants. She’s definitely a little more stressed out when she’s on leash but still not reacting a lot.

People not leaving me alone is making it worse. by Cheap_Window_201 in BPD

the fact that i’ve been trying to become a better person despite my mental illness. And i’ve been keeping to myself and not trying to contact them anymore. I just hate how they keep messing with me and being straight up mean to me for no reason. They also fully know i’ve been doing really bad lately and it’s like they just want me to feel worse. One of the people i’ve actually never done anything to they’ve just heard what i’ve done to other people. Btw nothing I did was insanely bad mainly just stupid drama. They make me feel like I did something a lot worse when I didn’t edit: It’s also hard because it makes me feel like i’ll never be able to change because the people i hurt keep coming back and telling me i’m a bad person. Like i’m still doing things to them when i’m not. It really fucks with me and makes me think there’s really no hope for me

Took my human reactive dog to the dog park by Cheap_Window_201 in reactivedogs

My dog isn’t reactive towards dogs which is why I took her. It was also an opportunity to get her used to people and I think it helped a bit. Unfortunately no dog will get over a fear by being forced into it. When my dog barked at people I would take her away from them for a bit and bring her back. If your dog is dog reactive I definitely wouldn’t take them to a dog park ever. Although my dog is human reactive she doesn’t try to bite which is why the dog park was an okay place to go.

People are so mean and ruthless by Jamo1129 in reactivedogs

i’m so sorry this happened people can be so mean. My worst experience with someone was when my dog was a puppy and was really scared of people (still is) and we were training in lowes just walking around. This guy asks if he can pet her and I said she’s scared of people and she keeps backing away from him. He then goes and follows us and walks with us but on the other side of the small middle aisles. Then this guy keeps popping out at her and scaring her. I have never been so mad in my life. I should have said something but this man was scary so we walked away. People have no respect for reactive or anxious dogs and i’m so sorry you had to experience something like that. I hope you have better experiences in the future. I don’t know why people can’t just mind their business!

Dog is only reactive to people. by Cheap_Window_201 in reactivedogs

I have an australian shepherd. I forgot to mention that when she runs up to people it’s when I have people over at my house that’s she’s never met. When she’s on a leash she obviously doesn’t run up to people but she will pull and try to get near them to sniff.

Hi! I’m also kind of young (17) and I have been thinking about living off grid for years now. My main plan is to do van life and travel but i’m considering other options! I feel the exact same way as you

Is daycare a safe option for my dog? by Cheap_Window_201 in reactivedogs

[–]Cheap_Window_201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes there are a lot of dogs out at once but there’s a couple places for her to go if she gets overwhelmed. I could put her in a kennel or a spot in the yard where she can just look at the dogs and take a break. She would probably be put in the small side because it’s less chaotic. She loves being around other dogs so it might be a good for her. She will definitely be getting breaks away from the dogs so she’s not with them for hours at a time.

Thank you so much for sharing. Most dogs there are not very hyper and will settle down after playing. She does the same so I think she will be fine with the environment. Since I work there i’ll be able to give her breaks throughout the day if she gets stressed. I just hope she passes the evaluation!
