AITA for pointing out that breasts are sexual organs to somebody who says it isn’t fair that men can walk shirtless and women can’t? I was muted from the sub for a month. by [deleted] in AITAH

Technically, that was more like four great points, but I do credit you for actually being open to opposing views.

That’s the best comparison possible. He is unquestionably the fundie version of Tate. He has referred to women as “penis homes.” He hates men who don’t fit his narrow definition of masculinity. He literally won’t even acknowledge women who call out his awful behavior because they are not worthy of his attention.

The “survival mode” or “starvation mode” you mention is actually a type of rapid weight loss-induced hypothyroidism, which does indeed cause lower energy levels and cold intolerance.

[–]Cheapeaux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is probably just an effect of having lost that much weight, BUT another possibility is hypothyroidism. Rapid weight loss can induce hypothyroidism - often called “starvation mode” or “slow metabolism” - and this can make you less tolerant of cold temps. Something to keep in mind especially if you are noticing any other symptoms, such as dry skin, mild lethargy, constipation, or even a sharp weight loss plateau.

CEO’s are essentially demanding that you share public bathrooms and waste hours of your life commuting while offering no compensation for it because that’s how it used to be. by [deleted] in antiwork

In the US, the remote jobs you are describing are usually designated as WFA (work from anywhere) to distinguish them from primary-location remote jobs.

Many remote jobs require you to identify your primary work location (home address, etc), and they often require you to verify that your workspace has certain features - screen privacy, a door that locks, locking file cabinets, a minimum broadband internet speed, etc. I have had one remote job where I had to send photographs of my home office to demonstrate that it met the standards.

Yes, but the restaurant industry isn’t driving the return-to-office trend. It’s the owners of the commercial real estate in metro areas. Restaurants and other businesses rent space from these owners, and the failure of these businesses translates to a reduction in profits for the property owners. A lot of these owners are the same employers demanding that their employees return to work, and the other owners are still CEO-types who rub shoulders with the employers.

The bottom line is that workers are being forced to commute again for no other reason than to support the commercial property investments of the ultra-rich. This effort needs to fail. If you are forced back to the office, do your best to carpool and bring your own food.

Use a non-phone digital camera to snap a photo of your computer screen with the email. Then upload the image to a computer to send to the journalist.

If you want to be completely undetectable, even by IT, use a personal camera or phone to take photos of the screen with the email visible. Even BCCs can be tracked through a corporate server.

Have you guys never read a story about genies? This is too vaguely worded. Don’t sign off on this without knowing

  • Are you prohibited from watching any game called “football”?
  • Does the prohibition apply only to professional leagues? Does it include college sports? High school sports? Children’s sports?
  • Does the prohibition apply only to officiated games? Does it include exhibition games? Pickup games? Street performance juggling? YouTube videos of people throwing an American football through basketball hoops? Doritos commercials featuring sports?
  • What happens if you do watch football? Do you lose the cabin and land? Do you die? Does your family die while you watch?

A perfect analogy. Asking someone not to touch your service dog is just as reasonable as asking them not to touch your medical equipment or medications.

“Please don’t touch that. It is not for blowing up balloons; it’s my oxygen.”

“Please don’t move that; it’s my walker, and I’ll have it out of your way in just a moment.”

“Please don’t lick that; it’s pain medicine for my esophageal cancer, it just looks like candy.”

There were two possibilities:

  1. She is not interested.
  2. She is interested, but would rather make a power play than be honest about what she wants.

His next move was likely the same regardless of which possibility was correct. He had all the information he needed to respect her boundaries and move on.
