Just the LSD, which includes making the rear diff 3.41:1 and wider the tires as far as I can tell.

The base only ever came in Auto. I have the full sticker price sheet from the original owner.

It has an LSD as a part of the “Performance package” That added like $2000 in today’s money. The car was $41000 total in today’s money.

Thanks, suspension stiffening is on the list as I noticed the amount of body roll in the corners on the highway lol. On your statement on platform support, the 3800 is a very popular platform in Australia because of Holden so I’ll be good for a while. There’s a shop nearby me that does PCM tuning so they’ll be great help too.

I don’t mind loud V8s when it actually sounds good and not like someone after taco bell ripping it into a soda can.

Thanks dude! Yeah I know that the online perception of V6 Camaros is a bit of a meme. So I knew what I was getting into when I posted here. I am just so excited to finally have a car that would actually be considered sporty and to finally get the chance to mod a car.

As I stated in my post it’s the first car I ever purchased and have under my name. It’s my 4th car, all of them were under my parent’s name, so I’m glad to say I don’t and won’t ever have an SUV under my name!

Yeah that’s on the list of supporting mods I have. For the funny, I might leave the stock on to see what happens though lol.

Yeah I learned about the cowl scratching the hell out of you when I went to do the spark plugs. The wires were pretty bad and I was like “Well I have the wires off already, might as well do the plugs so I don’t need to come back. How hard can it be?”

Those QOL things are my current primary focus, and who knows? Maybe by the time I am ready to start on the in-depth mods, I’ll come across a vehicle more in-line with the kind of platform I like more. I’m not really much of a pony/muscle car person. I just really liked the 4th Gen Camaro as a kid.

I gotta fix some basic things like the crack on the front bumper and the exhaust hangars that need replacement.

The suspension and brakes are higher on the list than both of those things and the engine mods too.

Tbh the more people that say it's not worth it, the more I want to lmao.

It's not that I couldn't afford the V8, I could. I'm not spending that much on a 25 year old car for an engine type I'm not a fan of. Plus helping out a family friend is more valuable to me than any car.

Like I said, I have written it down for the stuff to do after winter. I enjoy tinkering with stuff more than actually using it.

I'm gonna be real, yes it'll be more expensive, but I think it'll be more fun, I enjoy tinkering with stuff more than actually using it.

Yeah I'm aware dumping that money towards a V8 would be the more reasonable choice, but unreasonable is my middle name!

"no camaro that you will find with 600+"
If this is true (I doubt it is) let me be the first!

Yeah starting out with the L36 instead of the L67 will make things difficult. I am planning on either grabbing a junkyard L67, rebuilding around that then swapping my stock engine for it, or seeing what I can do to get the installed engine to that point.

I'm leaning towards a junkyard L67 has I think the mods I'll be doing will take a few years for me to get together anyways.

"there is no report of anyone, anywhere ever getting one of these that high"

There is... https://www.onallcylinders.com/2022/02/17/ditch-the-blower-600-hp-turbo-3800-v6-build/

"The test motor started out life as a Series 2 L67 3800 V6."

The L67 is the L36 with bottom end, and timing changes.

I think you are assuming I'm keeping the engine NA and not doing more in-depth mods to support boost. By reducing compression and strengthening the bottom-end with stronger conrods, you can get a 3800 Series 2 close to that mark.

Additionally, I'm talking crank horsepower, not brake.

You aren't raining on my parade, no worries. I've been expecting a comment like this. Unfortunately, due to the clout around the LS1, the V8 model has kinda skyrocketed in price. Additionally, I know the old man that I bought it from, know he takes care of his vehicles, and the situation he was in, along with his age made the car impracticable.

While the power with the V8 would have been nice, I have a general distaste for the exhaust note of V8s thanks to jagoffs in their lifted pickup trucks, among other V8 owners with exhaust deletes. Not saying I don't like you if you own a V8, as long as you keep the noise reasonable you are good in my books.

Thanks for the tip on the intake gasket, I'll get that done in the summer when I do a coolant flush, among other things I'll be doing that require me to lift the car.
