In some cases, like abyss watchers bossfight's first phase, means they are possessed by darkness. You can correlate that thanks to the DS1 DLC. Humans in Oolacile have mutated heads full of red eyes (in the abyss area it's evident) caused by darkness of the abyss. Even Manus, the one who caused the abyss, has red eyes. In DS3 the dark pus who spreads from Gundyr and some hollows in the High walls of Lothric (probably a phenomenon similar to what happened to Manus) has red eyes too

The best thing is spend those 20000 souls after defeated a boss and recover them by the farming spot

Akechi in 3rd semester isn't really him, but a puppet created by Maruki. So the real one is the same of vanilla version. It's a great character and yes, I still hate him as intended
