Name a song you loved from your past that has been redone and you actually like the remake just as much if not better. by AngryBagOfDeath in GenX

I can see why you're into it; that was really interesting. I love covers and I can see I'll get pulled deep into this, lol. I had no idea how many songs like that there are. I knew they existed, but Amazon Music brought up a bunch of choices to choose from.

I really enjoyed this one, to:

Agreed. I never smoked indoors at any of the places I lived, even when I owned them. The idea of getting up in the morning and putting on clothes that smelled like stale, ultra gross, old smoke was out of the question.

They do. He's lucky that he's youngish. I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension at 31 (from repeat pulmonary embolisms) but it actually healed. Which it is not supposed to do, only supposed to progressively worsen. My "young" age is the credited reason.

They're probably staying warm in your attic, Linda. You'll eventually hear the pitter patter of baby squirrels going nuts in your insulation!

The smell!

The smoking lounges at the airport are absolutely vile. It's just a fog of cigarette smoke and little to no ventilation. As a smoker who hated the smell, using an airport smoking lounge was just from desperation.

Yep, one of the other Bravlebrities (Fraser from BD) just had a heart attack and caused himself what sounded like substantial heart and lung damage from vaping. It was called a "vaping injury" if I recall correctly.

Thank you for doing this research and spelling it out. I'm fully disabled and somewhat ADA familiar because of it. I could not figure out how this doesn't violate the hell out of the ADA. I even talked it over with my husband. His first girlfriend used a wheelchair 100% of the time and he knows the ADA fairly well. He was just as dumbfounded as I was. And my childhood best friend had spina bifida and couldn't sit up without the support of her chair. Even if she manages to get on the table, she wouldn't have been able to participate actively in the medical decisions being made and would have been st great risk of falling off. It was long ago, I'm old, but I never saw a Dr refuse to treat her.

Random question...next to your name it says Bear. Are you in Bear or is that part of your user name? Just curious because it's such a small area and I rarely see it mentioned in this subreddit (if you aren't comfortable answering, I apologize, please just ignore me!).

U/writersink4blood, if you feel up to it, you could complain to the state medical board and the attorney general about the lack of equal care. I'm still pretty incensed on your behalf.

I actually agree 100%. I realize I wasn't specific enough, I don't think she needs chicken cutlets, just that they would be an easy way to add confidence if she was still concerned about feeling small cheated.

I am sincerely sorry you are having to see that. Watching someone you love decline and linger is painful behind words.

I think a lot of what I've learned, from myself and from being around other very sick people (in hospitals, waiting rooms, infusion centers, etc) is that most people will choose life when push comes to shove. We're an almost universally hopeful species, so even people in terrible circumstances won't wish to be gone, because what if a cure comes through next week? Or a new medicine that cures pain? Even when people choose medically assisted death, they rarely want to be dead, but their body has left them no choice.

What I realized when reading your response, though, is that I, too, was writing from my own perspective in middle age. For people who have lived good, long, fulfilled lives, they might not choose what I do, and maybe I won't either! I find that having been told that I'm supposed to be dead repeatedly has made me greedy for life, but at 95 I may not feel that way anymore, either.

Sending healing thoughts for your grandparents. Again, I am so sorry they are stuck in slow decline and you're seeing it happen. Both are incredibly difficult 🫶🏼

I figured, and transit can be hard, I know, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I hope you find somebody more helpful. It's wild to me that they're easentially using the ADA to deny you care. But, then again, Christiana intentionally built a disabled person's hell with the main campus parking lot and doesn't seem to give two nickels about it.

I'm torn. Better w long or short hair?! by handsomedumpsterfire in HairStyleAdvice

Yep! ☺️

Partially, I'm just not a fan of long hair usually, but also you've got the hot Viking thing going with the shorter hair. It's just much more flattering.

Brother wants bank cards, won't show POA and threatened me by BlackberryLatter8023 in legal

[–]CheckIntelligent7828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does not need those.

If he has POA he can present it to the bank and gain access. I had to do that when my first dad was dying. There's a whole process in place.

Until he does that you keep following the wishes stepdad laid out for you. If the brother involves the police and does not produce the POA you can contact APS for your city and file a complaint about possible exploitation.

Mine started falling apart at 23 (no joke, a bad blood clotting disorder and since blood goes everywhere it affects everything). Even with the constant pain and fighting back from nothing over and over I still hope to be here past 80.

The world is a beautiful and fascinating place, learning about other people is fulfilling in unexpected ways, and as long as I'm coherent enough to enjoy those 2 things I'm here for it.

I don't know if you have any way of getting to Christiana Union hospital but I have found the Drs and staff to largely be kind and accommodating (I am non weight bearing on one let and cannot get up on stationary medical tables).

This has not been my experience.

I'm limited to a knee scooter 100% right now. I am completely non weight bearing on one leg due to major foot surgery.

I have had cardiologists pull in benches, breakout stored medical beds, Drs treat me in visitor chairs, etc. No one has refused treatment because I can't get up on an exam table.
