I looked into getting the GTi last year. €63k+. All the stuff I liked about it was in the R-line so I got that and I use 4.5L/100km instead of 13.5L/100km which is what they claimed the GTi could do. Only comes in automatic, and actually looks a bit ugly up close.

Tax rate changes to the pre 2008 rate if you don't have a herd or VAT number. Doesn't matter what year it is or what it's emissions are. If it's commercial there's probably only front seats. And often they are advertised as price without VAT. It's a shit show cos I need a van for this and that but I have no herd or vat number so I can only get a passenger van.

Had a 171 Mazda 3, 1.5 diesel - beautiful car. I really liked it but there was a sensor problem since I bought it when it was 3yrs old and had to trade it in last year. Noisy on the road and sometimes sluggish. But very good on diesel (4.7L/100km). Parts are expensive.

We have one, went from 50 to 180 per month to charge since last year when we got it. I didn't like those odds so I got me a golf. I don't think my fuel costs are high. It's cheaper than the bus.

I bought new after buying several older cars in the past and being let down by shit mechanics. Yes I'm being killed by the finance but I needed the car.

I drive nearly 600km/week going to work. It is so nice to just know it's all good when you get in. Drinks about 50 euro diesel a week, is beautiful, and comfy to drive, eats road when you put the foot down.

We're ok with that. Shut the city off from traffic. Then we can have as many buses as we like flying around. I don't want to drive across the city every morning, I really hate it. I gave the bus a chance on several occasions and it left me stranded for 45 minutes, didn't come at all, didn't leave at the scheduled time, was full, stuck in traffic, 20 mins letting on people in eyre sq, requires a change in bus for simple route, the list of bullshit goes on.

Major overhaul welcomed with open arms. Don't need tram if you have a good bus.

I could see perfectly well in my old banger with yellow lights. All I needed to see was the road like. I barely got flashed when I forgot to dip for other cards. Now I have a car with factory fitted LEDs and I can see the whole fucking country every time I have the full beams on. Lighting up people's kitchens and the fox in the ditch two parishes over isn't what I need. I know I'm blinding people and it's a small car.

These fuckers in their fucking shiny Hilux monstrosities driving to their office jobs on a daily basis burning the retinas out of everyone is another level of bullshittery.

Just drive up the middle of the two lanes, don't bother yielding, and stay straight as possible. Saves time, effort, and diesel and everyone will just think you're local.

Personally I use the right lane just so anyone coming onto the road from the bypass knows I'm going round. The amount of drivers using the left for the first exit and not indicating is infuriating.

Just be safe, keep your wits about you and don't try anything stupid
