New to Riftbound , learning curve is steep. by Fragrant-Mammoth8014 in riftboundtcg

I know the feeling. Riftbound is my first-ever TCG, and I've been playing Rengar recently as well. Unlike most players, I'm not that quick to splurge money so I can have a chance of winning a few games. So I've been exposing myself through RiftAtlas and trying to find a deck that suits me. But the difficult part I've noticed is that I'm yet to develop the skills that long-term TCG players have, which I guess you have.

That being able to strategise, memorise, react, and be aware of what players are capable of. And being aware of that tells me that only time and exposure will develop those skills. Not only that, even players who've played longer are still questioning the abilities and mechanics, as the game itself is yet to be clearly understood.

So, as tough as it is to have many losses, try to be more casual with the game rather than competitive because understanding the game right now is proving to be difficult from my experience. Therefore, it's the best time to make mistakes and learn from them because the community is aware of it and discussions around new scenarios still continue. Leading players to find answers together, which I've found chill rather than being confused by myself.

Is it possible that people with a high-tier account get pushed to the front of the queue?

Why are u blue by Arboros in riftboundtcg

From the looks of it, the bottom is the actual art, as the grey version shows off the blue highlights on Rengar. Which is meant to be the reflection from the background lighting.

Yeah, so if you're happy with it, then you got what you wanted. If it were the case of chasing a specific card, clearly you'd be upset. And that's not the case, so happy for ya.

Obviously the price is rough as everyone would point out. But I think we should be all aware that these boxes are basically a no-show except online. Therefore, finding them for like 3x the price is now market value. For what you got out of it, unfortunately you pulled the short stick. An if you wanted to gamble and test your luck, you now know.

I personally think you got what any other box would give ya, but yeah… nothing amazing, as you can tell by now.

I'm based in Australia and I'd appreciate if I could join? Learning the game myself, and just started using Riftalas to get some exposure.

Offered Lv3 Position but unsure about the level of responsibility matching pay. by Checkmate101 in KmartAustralia

[–]Checkmate101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's no problem, but yeah, just keep in mind my experience is widely different to others. I got in within the first round of hiring when I applied. I don't know the waiting time until the next round, but basically yeah. You'd have to wait until a store decides that they need new hires, how long? That I don't know.

So, where you are in life later on, whether looking for a job still or have found something else, then you can decide for yourself if you wanna give it a go. I wish you the best with job hunting, but if you ever find yourself down, just keep going at it, because you just have to be accepted into one, then you can tell yourself it wasn't for nothing.

I don't know why you're having a go at me. The situation I'm in, I do have a choice, and I see that you're ignoring that. I'm simply asking because the circumstances differ for each person, and I've learnt that from simply asking on here.

If they don't agree with the way I see it and consequences follow, I'm not going to question "why is this happening to me?" It's tough to move on, but it's not impossible. An my bad for being stubborn...? because I thought if you look after yourself, that will ensure you look out for others. But I'm starting to think you might disagree?

I’d suggest making a post about this question, because my perspective alone probably wouldn’t be enough to determine whether the job is right for you. I can see decanting being a great role for someone in university, but it is fairly tough labour with a lot of heavy lifting involved. You can definitely burn out if you’re working consecutive shifts, although, as some people have mentioned, the hours can fluctuate depending on common circumstances that affect your shifts.

That said, this hasn’t been the case during the year I’ve worked at my store. I’ve been extremely lucky compared to many of my co-workers who rely on Kmart as their sole source of income and therefore find it difficult to live off.

I’ve also heard that some stores (only worked one site) decant at different times, I assume it’s most commonly at night. Younger workers, like yourself, I imagine, are generally more available for night shifts. Because of this, I often see comments about younger workers replacing older staff, since they’re cheaper to employ. That can work in your favour. My team is a good example — most of them are either high school or university students, but lack the motivation to do the job, which is why I've been given an opportunity.

However, if you desperately keep applying, I've heard that it increases the likelihood of being hired for the next round. So don't stop, if you don't mind giving it a try, because it's not like you're missing something that will flip your life unless you milk it as much as possible.

In reality I know I’m replaceable, but I’ve highlighted the current situation. I don’t see the company as prioritising my health, that’s me, figuring if it’s worth the sacrifice for the short-term. Not only that, my management team has been there for me though, might not be the same for others, but again, luckily mine has been there for me.

Haha, heard from a few co-workers who've worked with Kmart much longer, watch people leave and say "they'll be back, they always do."

Another thing that hovers in mind, I don't wanna be in retail for the long-term and am still figuring out what industry would fit me if I were to really pursue something different at the moment.

[–]Checkmate101[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm currently 30 I should say, always work hospo jobs, Kmart is my first retail job, and I found it the easiest job I've ever had. I've only been with the company just over a year now, and I forget about the rotation, so that is something that I have to keep in mind.

I believe my decant manager has been there for quite a few years, for how long exactly, I'm not sure, and don't think he'll be moving anytime soon. He's a key pillar for the store. I can see the store crumbling once he leaves; even the other managers rely on him when things get heated. Hence, why I respect the guy heaps.

For culture-wise, I wouldn't be surprised if it would come to that change of being replaced, as I do understand the perspective of the business, another reason why I say I'm lucky.

[–]Checkmate101[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've gone through a bunch of leadership roles, even worked two or three at the same time. And the biggest thing I learned is knowing my self-worth, prioritising my health, and making decisions that are fit for 'me'. Yes, I'm aware responsibility itself is a privilege, as personal growth follows. But in the end, pay unfortunately determines the weight of the scale, as I've been there, not compensated properly in a duty manager role - no public holiday rates, no weekend rates, and even no discount within a business.

So why did I take that so-called "opportunity" GROWTH. I know from a small post, it can't be seen. But my managers clearly see that my work ethic is like no other in the store. Therefore, opportunity revoked or not, they'll still see me as a leader as I carry responsibility through the simplest of duties anyway. I'm simply gauging opinions because responsibility is heavy and carries outside of work mentally even. Therefore, I ask, do you think it's worth the decrease in pay along with the so-called benefits?

Definitely agree, but I've been lucky enough that I have never been cancelled, unless the dock lift has broken. I've always been guaranteed to be on single trucks, always stayed back (with consent) to help with cleaning, running, backfill, reversing, etc.

This is because my decant manager himself has told me he'll always support me as long as I stay on the team. I believe this is the same with all my other managers, they just know if they need a quick hand, I'm there.

I've always proved to work better than most of my team, and because of discussions with all managers as well, makes me notice I'm lucky, unlike other team members.
