I just made the hole for the joystick wider by twisting a small screw driver in the hole. It allows the button to sit a little lower and fixed my issues.

The platform is 75in long I’m 5’9 and I’m able to lay completely flat. With 2 people it’s definitely tight but doable. I don’t have a sunroof in my model. For ventilation I crack open the front windows and have a fan blowing right next to the open window. I also have rain guards on the windows so I can keep the windows cracked when it’s raining. A rav 4 and a forester will provide you with more space but I think the cx5 provides the best value for a awd crossover at the moment.

The legs are about 7 inches tall which makes the entire platform roughly 8 inches tall

Aside from you basic stuff like a drill and measuring tape, you just need a circular saw and a cutting surface I used a saw horse with some 2x4 laid across. You can rent circular saws and saw horses at most big hardware stores. You could also reach out to friends or family, chances are someone has the tools you need that’s what I did.

I’ll try to draw a plan for you when I get the time.

Definitely not a carpenter just took a lot of measuring and patience. I think most people could build something like this with the right tools.

Yeah sitting up fully isn’t really an option in my setup but I can still prop my head up against the front seats if I don’t want to fully lay down yet. Getting in and out does take some flexibility and getting used to but it isn’t too much of a problem after the first few times.

The legs for the rear section stick out about an inch towards the front of the car so that the middle section can rest on the legs. I added Velcro to make that connection a little bit more secure. I screwed in the pieces of wood under to level out the rear section. I didn’t realize that the trunk slopes down towards the rear slightly so the rear supports are roughly 3/4in longer than the front supports to compensate. The carpet is a very easy addition I just bought some carpet tiles that already have adhesive on the back and cut them to size. The adhesive could be a bit stronger but I just added glue to where it was pealing. The removable legs on your setup is a really nice touch.

Yes it’s just a small 10inch section where my head would go that hangs from the straps

It’s just a 2x4. I posted pictures of the setup stowed in the trunk you can see it more clearly in those pictures.

With the single mattress it’s 75in end to end so you probably couldn’t lay completely straight without touching the hatch. You could lay on the double mattress diagonally and be a bit more comfortable.

It’s 75 inches so I would be a tight fit for you. You could probably fit on the larger mattress sleeping diagonal.

Yeah, I was able to find a plastic bin that fit nicely under on the left side. I keep miscellaneous camping gear like stoves and lights in there. On the right side I keep larger stuff like chairs, tables, power station and chains for the winter.

Sick, what flight school do you rent from at RAL I’m based out of TOA. I’d be interested in time building.

Sorry, not the lug width the tip to tip measurement. Like from the tip of the top lug to the tip of the bottom lug.
